Each year, the United Way of the New River Valley holds "Stuff the Bus", a drive to supply local school children with the supplies they need to have a successful school year.
Last year, the United Way Stuff the Bus campaign saw widespread support from our community and served 583 local low-income children with backpacks brimming with school supplies. In Floyd County, 143 backpacks were distributed. In Radford City, 207 backpacks were distributed. In Montgomery County, 233 backpacks were distributed. Local businesses collected donations and served as convenient drop-off locations across the New River Valley, while residents donated supplies and helped stuff buses during the Stuff the Bus event at the United Way of the New River Valley office.
