Irish Blessing
$75Dimension and Material:
- 8.5 x 5.5 x 2"
- glass enamel on copper
Add Irish inspiration to your decor. This Houston Llew "Spiritile" was donated by Framemakers. Every Spiritile is handmade according to the same dimensions following the golden mean ratio. With a quirky smile, Houston likes to say these artworks are "created as windows of the enlightened spirit," inspiring those who interact with them. While every piece has its own unique essence, all are created to live in community with the others, giving an eclectic collector limitless possibilities of personal expression.
The glass is applied to one side of the metal using stencils and relying on precise layering with hand sifters. The piece is only fired once. After firing, a pin is rolled over the enameled metal to form intentional crazing marks in the glass. Although it goes against the medium's traditional teachings, Houston says this technique creates increased light refraction, particularly in the transparent glass. Spiritiles can be hung on the wall, displayed freestanding, and can even withstand high humidity, direct sun and covered outdoor environments. (his website recommends taking them inside during cold winter weather)

Red Couch Mannequin
$7516x24 archival print with a 5ml gloss laminate archivally mounted onto Dibond.
You might recognize this iconic image by Kendall Reeves of Spectrum Creative Group from its prominent place on the side of the Framemakers building on Kirkwood just west of the Square.
This mannequin resides at the private roadside museum owned by Otis and Kathy Eldridge, which features a prefab house from the 1950's, an antique trailer park, its own fire department, sheriff's office, a classic diner, a moonshine still, movie theater, a church, and a covered bridge, all in various states of restoration, as well as the "best junk yard in the world". Memory Lane reportedly only opens once a year, on Memorial Day weekend, when the Eldridges open up the 1950s memorabilia village to about 800 classic cars and 10,000 of their closest friends. Memory Lane was also a filming location for the 2010 zombie film Broken Springs, in which "a batch of moonshine is distilled with toxic spring water, and anyone who takes a swig turns into a cannibal zombie." 'Cause that could totally happen.

C Harper "Birthday Surprise"
$155Framed print donated by Framemakers
"Is penguin parenthood planned? Let's scan their plan. It's 60 below in the rookery 60 miles inland where a pair of passionate penguins yield to the impulse to populate Antarctica. He incubates while she peregrinates, waddling back to the ocean (they are flightless) to feast on seafood (their only fare). Two months later she's back to feed their newborn by regurgitation, but no doggy bag for daddy. He waddles weakly away from fast to feast, 60 miles to go at 60 below. Cool plan - for sub-zero population growth."
