On November 7, 2021, I will run 26.2 miles in my second NYC Marathon, which will be the 50th running of the NYC marathon. I have chosen to run as a member of, and help to raise critical funds for, the BronxWorks Marathon Team.
BronxWorks helps individuals and families in the Bronx improve their economic and social well-being by feeding, sheltering, teaching, and supporting in myriad other ways members of our community. As a Bronx resident and the chair of BronxWorks' Leadership Council, I have seen first hand many of the positive ways BronxWorks impacts this borough.
Now, more than ever, the citizens of the Bronx need your help: the Bronx is New York's poorest borough, has been hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, and still needs critical resources to recover and rebuild.
BronxWorks, deemed an essential service during New York's PAUSE in 2020, continues to serve our community during this time of critical need. Budget cuts and reduced philanthropy resulting from the pandemic, however, jeopardize the strength of all nonprofits in New York City, including BronxWorks.
All funds I raise will go to help BronxWorks improve our community by ensuring that it can continue to serve and protect Bronx citizens this year and beyond.
This year my personal goal is to raise $3,500 for BronxWorks, and to inspire others (in the Bronx and further) to run, get fit, and get outdoors!
