The Fantasy Artwork of Karen Kuykendall. Casa Grande artist Karen Kuykendall's paintings, jewelry, and papier-mache have been exhibited at both the Phoenix Art Museum and the Tucson Art Museum, and are currently in a permanent exhibit at the Mesa Historical Museum. Early in her art career, Kuykendall was interested in science fiction and fantasy art, but her artwork was often dismissed as being "illustrations and not art." She became a successful artist, published author, and teacher and abandoned the fantasy art. But later in her life, she attended a sci-fi convention in Los Angeles and discovered that her sci-fi/fantasy artwork was finally being appreciated. This encouraged her to publish Cat People and Other Inhabitants of the Outer Regions, which details the fantasy "Out Regions" realm she created.
Includes three unique 16" x 20" prints (one framed), a cat figurine, a stunning necklace, 5 note cards, and a tarot deck featuring her art. The prints are titled "Land of the Floating Lights - 1978," "Cat People - 1977," and "The Black Guard - 1978."
