Founded in 1998 and based in the Moakley U.S. Courthouse in Boston, Discovering Justice has been a leader in civics education in Massachusetts, providing students the opportunities to examine the workings of the justice system, explore the ideals of justice, and to prepare to engage in our democracy. Today, thanks to the efforts of hundreds of donors, teachers, legal mentors, and supporters, more than 140,000 children have participated in Discovering Justice's interactive civic education programs.
Every year at its Annual Gala, Discovering Justice brings together its supporters, partners, volunteers, and students to celebrate its work and raise money to fund its programs, For more than 20 years Discovering Justice has worked with students to examine the workings if the justice system, explore the ideals of justice and prepare them to engage in our democracy.
The Gala raises more than $400,000, which provides thousands of students across Massachusetts with access to enriching civics classrooms, after-school, and in-Courthouse programs that emphasize critical thinking, compassion, empathy, and encourage students to be bold leaders and agents for change in their communities.
