We celebrated in equestrian chic style at iconic New York City venue, The View. Located in Battery Park, we danced the night away at this incredible venue, which featured an outdoor bar and lounge with stunning views of the Statue of Liberty.
On Thursday, October 7, GallopNYC hosted its sixth annual Barn Dance at The View at Battery Park in Manhattan. The celebration was our most successful Barn Dance to date, surpassing all previous fundraising goals. Funds raised from the event will go toward providing life-changing programs for New Yorkers.
The 2021 barn dance honored some of GallopNYC's biggest champions: US Equestrian Federation President Tom O'Mara, superstar volunteer Sharon Carpenter, leadership program trainee Bonnie Eng, and therapeutic riding students Yosiah, Yaden, and Yoel.
For those of you in the room who saw and felt the impact of their contributions through the words of the honorees - thank you for attending. To those who couldn't join us in person, we invite you to take a moment to watch these three incredible brothers speak about how their lives have changed because of therapeutic riding. We hope you will continue to spread our message among your friends and family.
Thank you to our incredible team of vendors and production staff for making it happen, and to our donors and friends who gave and supported therapeutic riding in New York City.
Tom O'Mara is the President of US Equestrian, the national federation for equestrian sport in the United States. A self-proclaimed horse show dad who spent many years in investment banking in NYC. He stepped into his role this January and has already been instrumental in leading US Equestrian efforts to champion organizations like Gallop NYC who connect people with horses and change lives every day.
This year's volunteer honoree, Sharon Carpenter, is a broadcast journalist, television host, and producer. She has worked as an on-air personality for a number of top American television networks including CBS, BET, Sean "Diddy" Combs' REVOLT TV, and VH1. Sharon became involved with GallopNYC's volunteer program in the summer of 2020, as a way to reconnect with horses (she rode growing up in the UK) and has become an invaluable volunteer, always answering our call and giving it her all.
