Join the American Red Cross S.C. Palmetto Region and Be A Hometown Hero and Adopt-A-Family this holiday season.

Each year, the S.C. Palmetto Region provides direct financial assistance to over 1,500 families who have been impacted by a home fire. This assistance provides immediate financial support so these families can purchase food, shelter and other critical items.

There couldn't be a more critical time of year to give. While many of us cozy up by fireplaces and cook for loved ones over the holidays, there's also heightened risk. Fireplaces, candles, string lights and even stoves helped cause home fires to spike by over 40% during November and December 2021 when compared to the prior two months.

This holiday season we are asking our communities to adopt a South Carolina family. Your financial support will not only provide direct financial assistance but provide the hope to a family in need.

Unlike most things, home fires never stopped during the pandemic. Home fires remain the most frequent disaster in our state, and The American Red Cross of South Carolina responds to six home fires every day on average.

The unfortunate fact is 40% of Americans don't have $400 to get them through an emergency. Last year alone, the South Carolina Region of the American Red Cross spent more than $1,000,000 assisting families impacted by home fires.
