Unlike normal years our Olympians have a VERY short timeline to be onsite in Tokyo before their competition. In an effort to get them acclimated to the heat and to lessen the time change before they race the US Team will be training for a week in Hawaii prior to arrival in Tokyo.

While this sounds like a vacation - we all know it won't be one! Our Team will be in the final stages of preparation and will be absolutely dialed into the details of their final plans. This training camp is a significant added expense for USRowing. But after 5 years of investment - now is not the time to take chances with our athlete's readiness!

We need 10 donors to step forward with a gift of $3,000 to cover the cost of bringing 10 boats for training at this camp to Hawaii. Boats have to be leased and loaded onto a trailer and brought by ship to the training site at a cost of $3,000 each. Athletes must train in the same equipment they will race in at the Games to prevent injury and ensure quality practices. Help us get these boats to our Team!

Training camp in Hawaii sure sounds exciting - while excitement will be in the air as our Athletes prepare for the most important races of their lives - one thing is for sure Hawaii is expensive! After extensive research this is the best place for this camp and our athletes will be well taken care of.

With over 58 athletes and staff traveling to Hawaii the cost for travel, food and lodging averages about $2,000 per person for the week. With a gift of $2,000 you can sponsor one athlete at this Pre-Olympic Training Camp - no limits on number of gifts needed for this one!

Team USA Support Staff

The United States Olympic Committee covers the cost of travel, gear, food and lodging for Team USA members and 4 staff members for the Games. This means USRowing has to cover the "accreditation" costs for all other support staff including coaches, physical therapists, team doctors and support staff. Total accreditation costs are over $7,000 per additional staff member.

With a gift of $1000 you can cover the cost of one of these staff members for one day of the Olympic Games. This will ensure our athletes have access to their own coaches, team doctors, therapists for recovery and injury prevention.

On Site Athlete Support

When a team arrives at the Games - it is time to turn the USA area at the race course into a command center. Coaches need meeting spaces, athletes need access to ice baths, ergs, bikes massage tables, quick nutritious meals - everything to keep them moving and ready for their next practice and race.

USRowing will construct this mini city out of ten staffed tents to meet the athletes needs and keep them out of the sun.

With a gift of $500 you can cover one of these tents for the Games. We need at least 10 gifts to cover this expense for USRowing!

Team USA Athlete Cooling Vests

No doubt about it, Tokyo is going to be HOT. And not just the razor close races but the weather. With an average temperature in the low 90's our athletes need cooling equipment for practices and to aid recovery between races. Each athlete will be issued a cooling vest for the Games.

Ice vest cost $150 each and with over 50 athletes to cover - it is a major expense for USRowing at the Tokyo Games!
