"Weedtree and Goldenrod"
Monotype
18" x 22"
by Rod Bouc
"Through my post graduate days of experimentation, my work quickly evolved from abstracted landscapes to non-objective mark making and field painting. The challenge became how to apply the paint and charcoal in interesting ways. I made the inevitable connection to the mark making and action painting of the New York School.
"Several years after graduate school, I had a renewed interest in depicting the land and sky. Regionalists influenced me less stylistically than philosophically. Unlike Benton, Wood and Curry, I knew the Midwest intimately. I farmed for my entire youth and into my early 20's. I grew up with the idea of making art about the landscape that was around me, but my painting had changed to the non-objective.
"Slowly I moved to representational depiction, incorporating much of the mark making, treatment of materials, and composition of my abstract days. In this way I achieve a new synthesis in my work of representation and the vigor of mark making." -Rod Bouc

"Summer Day on the Bay"
Black and white photography on metal
19" x 13"
by Matthew Lodge
"I took my first photograph with a simple Kodak Camera and with my father's help, developed the black and white film and made my first print at the age of 10. I was hooked.
"I learned traditional black and white photography and print making before graduation to color film. I worked for a long time with a simple 35mm viewfinder film camera, a couple of prime lenses and a hand-held light meter which led to a strong appreciation for the variation and quality of light in photographic art.
"At University I was Director of Photography for the student newspaper and nominated for a Guardian Student Media Award. Post graduation, a career in technology took me to over 35 countries around the world and enabled me to hone my travel photography skills. I was an early convert to digital cameras for the increased control and flexibility and have never looked back.
"Today, my photographs regularly appear in national newspapers, magazines, travel guides academic texts, and on jigsaw puzzles, tv shows, and websites including National Geographic TV, The Times and The Telegraph, BBC History Magazine and Frommer's Travel Guides.

Evensong art quilt
26"x10"
by Sue King
An avid outdoorist, textile artist Sue King developed her deep passion for camping, hiking and canoeing in early childhood. At the age of four, her parents took her to visit Great Smoky Mountains National Park, her first encounter with "America's Best Idea." It was an experience that, years later, influenced her career.
Her mother first taught her to embroider in the crisp air of the great outdoors, warmed by a campfire.
King's textile artworks celebrate our nation's cultural and natural resources with an emphasis on indigenous people and other historical figures central to the shaping of America, especially the American West. Her work bears a message of conservation and preservation.
As an artist and clinical social worker, King's figurative work focuses on both cultural and historical aspects, placing the person in the context of the flora and fauna with which they coexist.
King has served as Artist in Residence at numerous National Parks and other public lands, including Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado and Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona. She practices both figurative and landscape art.
Her current artwork, created in part by a grant from Greater Columbus Arts Council, includes unique screenprinting processes embellished with slow and contemplative hand stitching.
King's studio space is located at the rear of her home, an historic cottage in Lancaster, Ohio. Once a donut shop, the studio contains a large picture window overlooking a Japanese garden that provides the serenity and natural light conducive to King's creativity. Adjacent is a space used as a wet room for dyeing fabric and thread.

Cameron Mitchell Restaurants

This contemporary American bistro wowed Columbus diners with its diverse flavors selected from across the American culinary landscape as well as its extraordinary attention to service.
It didn't take long for Cameron to diversify and expand, discovering he had a gift for developing winning restaurant concepts in the process. The company that started from a proud mom's dining room table has now grown to 36 restaurants and 16 different concepts with locations in 12 states.

Splash
Metal and enamel paint
10" x 10"
by Mac Worthington
Mac Worthington has been creating his abstract art and home decor since the 1970s. From art galleries to exhibitions to private collections his work embraces both color and space with a sense of creative movement. His sweeping pieces showcase his talents as both an artist and interior designer.
While best known for his work in heavy metal art, Mac's unique cityscapes, American flags, urban landscape paintings and modern interior decoration, or as he calls it "functional art", inhabit landscapes, residences and businesses across the United States, Canada, Europe, South America and Asia.
Born to artistic parents in Canton, Ohio Mac's father was a well-known bronze sculptor who provided many of the athletic busts seen in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and his mother worked in enamel and silver. One of the major influences in his modern art were interpretations of the indescribable feelings of war he gained from going to Vietnam at a young age.
Mac adapts his radically abstract paintings and expressionistic sculptures to work to fit in most environments, which creates a uniquely collaborative feel between artist and viewer. Each piece showcases the energy and excitement Mac has about modern art while still begging the viewer to draw their own interpretations.
