Move-a-Thon Frequently Asked Questions

 

How can I access the online event?

To access the event, please check the email that you used to register-- you'll be sent a Zoom link to the online event in our pre-event communication! Please make sure that you have access to a reliable internet connection for the best virtual experience. If for some reason you do not see the event link, please contact Ford at ford@cottonwoodinstitute.org.

 

What is the attire for the online event?

Because this is an online event, you can wear whatever you want! However, it you want to kick it up a notch, bust out your 90's attire, neon colors, track suits, sweatbands, wigs, etc. and get into the Move-A-Thon vibe.

 

How does the silent auction work?

The silent auction opens on Saturday, July 24th, 2021 at 8am MT. To participate in the Auction from the convenience of your home, you just need to register on our GiveSmart page here. Once the silent auction opens, you can start bidding on your favorite items! Place your bid on selected items, set a maximum bid if desired, and GiveSmart will continue to keep you in the running until you reach your maximum bid. The silent auction will close at 8:00pm MT on Saturday, July 31, 2021.

Bidders will be responsible for paying immediately upon winning, and must cover shipping costs or coordinate pick-up of their items/certificates from the Cottonwood Institute. Instructions will be sent to the winners after the auction closes. Only domestic shipping can be provided!

The auction is open to everyone 18 years and older. You must be 21 years and older to bid on any alcohol-related auction package. We encourage you to share the link with your friends and family!

 

What about the live auction?

You can only bid on the live auction items during the live virtual event on Saturday, July 31st, 2021 from 6pm - 7:30pm MT. Make sure you are registered for the event and you will get an email and text with the Zoom link for the live event. Once the live auction starts, we will be accepting bids using the Zoom chat feature. The easiest way to participate is from your computer or laptop so make sure you download and update the latest version of Zoom. If you have to participate via your phone or tablet, make sure you download the app for iPhone or tablet or Android. If you have trouble bidding via the chat, please send a text to Auction Support at 303.881.9958 with your name and bid and we will get it recorded!

 

May I pay by check or other methods of payment?

Upon registering, you will be asked to provide credit card information. Bidders will need to authorize their winning bid charges to that credit card immediately after the auction closes. Any remaining balances will be charged to your card on file.

If you would like to use an alternate payment method to bid or register, please contact ford@cottonwoodinstitute.org prior to Friday, July 30th. Cottonwood Institute accepts cash, check, stock and bank transfers. Please send check payments to: Cottonwood Institute, PO Box 7067, Denver, CO 80207.

How will I know if I am outbid or if I have won an item?

You will be notified via text if you have been outbid. Keep an eye on your favorite items! If you are NOT receiving the text messages, make sure you have the correct mobile number under your profile. The texts will continue to notify you when you have been outbid or reached your maximum bid. When the silent auction closes, you will also receive a text message if you won any items.

 

How do I pick up my items or have them shipped to me?

To receive your items, payment must be received in order to coordinate delivery/pick-up of your item. Within the week following the closing of the auction, we will contact you regarding your preference for delivery versus in-person pick-up in Denver, CO. Pick-up of items will be available during designated times, and instructions will be sent to winners after the auction closes. I'm having difficulties using GiveSmart. Are there steps I can follow to make sure I'm able to bid?

How can I join the Move-a-Thon Strava Club on my desktop?

  • Go to Strava.com and sign up for a free profile
  • Click the magnifying glass at the top of the page 
  • Select 'Clubs' and search for 'Cottonwood Institute Move-a-Thon 2021' to join our official CI Move-a-Thon group
  • Use your phone or your GPS tracking app of choice to record your movements
  • Come to our event to compete for great prizes!

 

How does a personal fundraising page work?

By creating a personal fundraising page, you can help Cottonwood Institute raise critical funds to support our Changemaker & CAP Programs and get kids outside! Follow the steps on the homepage to create your own champion page and submit it for approval. Once your page is approved, share the link with your family, friends, and colleagues-- they'll be able to donate directly (and securely) to our organization through the GiveSmart platform! Log in to track your personal fundraising on your champion page. 

 

What should I include on my personal fundraising page?

Personal fundraising pages work best when they're just that-- personal! Consider uploading a photo, adding a description to your page to share about your connection to Cottonwood Institute, or explaining why you believe in our mission. Stories go a long way!

 

What if my personal fundraising page isn't working?

How do I order Chook Chicken for the night of the event?

We are pumped to partner with Chook Chicken for the Move-A-Thon this year. If you place an online order at one of their 3 convenient locations, they will donate 10% of sales back to Cottonwood Institute when you enter the coupon code: cottonwood21

 

 

Chook Chicken Instructions for Donors and Fundraisers:

  • If you donate or raise $150 - $250: CI will send you a coupon code to order Dinner For 2 + a bottle of Attimo wine (must be 21+) on us!
  • If you donate or raise $500: CI will send you a coupon code to order Dinner For 4 + a bottle of Attimo wine (must be 21+) on us!
  • If you donate or raise $1,000: CI will send you a coupon code to order Dinner For 8 + 2 bottles of Attimo wine (must be 21+) on us!
  • If you donate or raise $2,500: CI will send you a coupon code to order Dinner For 16 + 4 bottles of Attimo wine (must be 21+) on us!
  • If you donate or raise $5,000: CI will send you a coupon code to order Dinner For 20 + 5 bottles of Attimo wine (must be 21+) on us!

 

Please Note: Pick-up is free, but there is an additional fee for delivery. However, if your order includes wine, they cannot deliver alcohol at this time, so you will need to pick up your order in person. Orders must be placed by 3pm on Saturday, July 31st, 2021 in order to have enough time to pick up your order or have it delivered before the start of our event at 6pm MT sharp.

 

What is up with the Mythology cocktail kits?
