A gift of $10,000 could help someone like Joseph, an Army Veteran, and his wife Shirley. They could not afford the upkeep nor make critical repairs needed to their long-time family home and lived in unimaginable conditions. Habitat replaced their HVAC unit, and they now have heating and cooling in their home, something they have not had for several years. They also have windows, instead of plastic covering. Habitat repaired their plumbing and provided several other critical services.
A gift of $5,000 will help individuals like Luis. Luis had not graduated high school and was studying for his GED when he met Hugh with the Habitat Construction in Training program (CIT). Hugh told him about the program and that the CIT program would help him obtain the skills needed to work in construction, plus help him earn his GED, along with other certifications. Habitat would also help with job placement. Luis completed the program and was interested in furthering his training in the electrical field. He signed up with Wilson Electric Apprentice, completed this training and is now employed with great pay and benefits.
A gift of $2,000 could help someone like Damina. Damina's water bill continued to rise and was as high as $3,000 when she figured out a pipe under her house was leaking. By this time, the flooring in the house was soaked. Habitat repaired the plumbing under the house and replaced the flooring.
A gift of $1,000 could allow Habitat to help someone like Ronnie in Phoenix. Ronnie recently had to have his leg amputated due to health-related issues. Habitat helped with modifications to his home, including widening doorways so he could get around in a wheelchair.
A gift of $800 can redirect your tax dollars to support affordable housing in Arizona through the Arizona Tax Credit Program. Because Habitat qualifies as an eligible charity, donations to Habitat are eligible for a dollar-for-dollar tax credit of up to $400 for single and $800 for joint filers.
A gift of $400 could help someone like Walter. Habitat installed a raised toilet, grab bars in the bathroom and hallway, replaced some faucets and installed smoke detectors.
A gift of any amount could help build a new Habitat home and help someone like Angelica and her son Sebastian who struggled to find an affordable apartment. They lived with other family members in overcrowded, unsafe conditions. Because of generous donors and volunteers, Sebastian and his mom can stay safe and focus on their future. They no longer need to share limited space with extended family but have the stability that homeownership provides.
