Description: Heidi Hoy taught bronze casting and sculpture classes at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts. She is inspired by both human and animal subjects, working in a range of styles from realistic to abstract, and seeks to evoke, as she describes it, "the beauty, grace, and emotion that defines the essence of all living beings. My work has become about uplifting the spirit." Heidi's life-sized bronze "Priestess" was one of the first art installations in MCFTA's "Partners in Art" exhibits program with Ridgedale Center, presiding gracefully over the Center Court fountain. Her video "Foundry Dance" depicts, in greatly sped-up time, the creation of one of her figurative bronzes from the sculpting stage through the bronze casting process, illuminating the complex and time-consuming nature of this ancient and enduring art form.

Description: A professor in the Department of Visual Arts at North Dakota State University, Kim has presented workshops and served as a visiting artist at venues throughout the upper Midwest, Ecuador, and Mexico. His oeuvre includes large-scale collages such as these, as well as more traditional paintings including several landscape series of the North Dakota Plains, and a series of abstracted views of his Minnesota pond, "My own Giverny," as he describes it. The collages here combine the boldness and power of abstract paintings with the subtlety and gesture of figure drawings, simultaneously suggesting stepping back and pulling in closer for a better look?
