Help support our Emergency & Fire Preparedness Initiative!

Thanks to the support of the Marin County Fire Department and various animal and fire experts from throughout our community, Halleck Creek Ranch has a comprehensive evacuation and shelter-in-place plan for our horses and humans - but, we need your help to make that plan even more robust.

For years the Marin County Fire Dept and the Nicasio Volunteer Fire Dept have encouraged us to install water storage tanks on our property for use not only for the horses in the event of an emergency, but also to support their fire suppression efforts should a fire start.

Currently, our only water source is our well, from which the water is pumped using an electric pump at a rate no greater than ten gallons/minute. That means that if something were to happen to our pump house (ie. a fire sweeps through and burns it to the ground), we'll no longer be able to pump water from the well for our 18 horses who may be sheltered-in-place on our ranch, and there is no other water storage nearby for fire dept use.

We've partnered with the Nicasio Volunteer Fire Department to develop a plan and obtain a bid - now we just need the funds to make it happen.

The installation of three storage tanks and an adjoining fire hydrant will cost about $45,000.

To date, $10,000 has been pledged by Marin County Fire Dept and Pacific Gas & Electric.

No act of generosity is too small to make a difference. Help us complete this project by making a donation today!
