This beautiful 12"x16" print by Louisville resident and artist Richard Sullivan is titled "Kentucky Derby Flow." This print of an original watercolor shows thoroughbreds racing down the track of the Kentucky Derby. The jockey and horse are one, everything is on the line, years of training going into one moment. The flow state is what we are all going after, whether it be in athletics, meditation, or creative endeavors like painting and writing.

A former professional baseball player, Sullivan is a brilliant watercolorist whose ethereal yet vibrant art evokes emotion and memory. Sullivan was commissioned by Woodford Reserve to create the artwork for the 2020 and 2021 Woodford Reserve Kentucky Derby Bottles.

Also included is a 750 mL bottle of Woodford Reserve signed by Richard Sullivan.

Sullivan is an artist and former professional baseball player with the Atlanta Braves. Born and raised in Louisville, he studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) where he received a BFA in Illustration. He had the opportunity to play baseball at SCAD and to continue his interest in art and illustration. In 2008, Richard was drafted by the Braves in the 11th round as a junior and played 6 years of minor league baseball. He returned to SCAD in 2014 to finish his degree and focus exclusively on his artwork.

His work has been accepted into the permanent collection of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the Yogi Berra Museum and exhibited by the Louisville Slugger Museum and the Kentucky Derby Museum.
