Corrie Befort is a dance artist working between choreography, videography, visual and textile design to translate sensation-based ideas into performances, objects, sets, films and scores. Corrie co-directs LIMITS with sound artist Jason E Anderson and co-directed Salt Horse (2008-2015) with Beth Graczyk and Angelina Baldoz. Queen of the Night

(Epiphyllum oxypetalum) This specimen is from a plant at least 15 years old that has gone through the hands of several people, gifted once, becoming a symbol of resilience and perseverance, and the subject of a tattoo. It rarely blooms, but when it does, it blooms only at night and then the flowers wilt by morning. Light: Bright shade Water: Water when top 1" of soil feels dry. Do not let sit in standing water. Considerations: Enjoys typical indoor humidity, thrives in higher humidity levels, periodically mist. Keep temperature above 50Â°F. Cultivator: David Nebert

Heartleaf Philodendron

(Philodendron hederaceum) This specimen was saved from destruction from a 1917 Wallingford Craftsman home set for demolition. Its mother filled the large main room, spanning 30 feet, spreading more each year. Now sits a sterile multistory grey-box single-family home. The mother plant still lives on, divided with the last tenants of her home and shared with friends. Light: Medium to bright shade. Water: Water when the top 1" of soil feels dry. Considerations: Tolerates any humidity level, but thrives in >50% humidity with periodic misting. 65Â°F-75Â°F ideal temperatures, doesn't tolerate low temperatures well. Cultivator: David Nebert

Tradescantia Zebrina a.

Loves partial sun; ideally a north-facing or slightly shaded window. Water once every 1-2 weeks. Soil should never become bone-dry. Prefers being over-watered to being under-watered. This tradescantia has beautiful pink leaves and occasionally will produce tiny, bright pink flowers from the ends of new growth. As this stem grows, it will likely begin to drape and fork into multiple stems. If you place cuttings in water, theyâ??ll re-root in 2-4 weeks! I keep the parent-plant of this tradescantia in a hanging basket near a west-facing window where it grows nearly an inch each week during the summer. Cultivator: Ben Harris

Because they like moisture, these can do great in bathrooms. I have a few on bookshelves as well, where their long fronds look great draping downwards.
