Microplastic #27, Soap and Glory Facial Scrub by Wright State University Associate Professor of Art, Ben Montague, is a 2020 Archival Inkjet print, edition 1/9.

This image is part of a series that explores the issue of microplastics in the environment. Microplastics are defined as plastics smaller than 5mm. These are generally created by non-recycled plastics gradually breaking down into tiny fragments which enter our watersheds and, eventually, our food system. Microplastic #27 documents microbeads used as an expholiant in a facial scrub. Microplastics are now being found in shellfish, bottled water and even in peoples' blood.
