Mrs. Wilson and Ms. Sara's Toddler class Valentine artwork is a lovely creation full of movement! With the guidance of Mrs. Wilson and Ms. Sara, each child mixed and painted red and pink paint tones on heart-shaped pieces of paper.

For the background, Mrs. Wilson directed the children to draw on a large piece of paper while listening to the song "Flight of the Bumble Bee" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. As the music played, the children used black marker to illustrate the sounds they heard (highs, lows, twists and turns of the bee's flight pattern) onto the paper.

Their painted hearts were then arranged onto the background into a thoughtful composition by Mrs. Wilson.

The finished artwork has been framed in a black 18x24 wood frame.

Mrs. Hood and Ms. Maria's Toddler class Valentine artwork is a wonderful creation full of vivid color and lively paint strokes! Under the guidance of our Art Instructor Mrs. Reid, each child hand-painted a heart-shaped paper using washable tempera paints.

The children explored mixing colors together in differing amounts, which lead to some exciting discoveries such as creating a shade of purple using red, blue, and a hint of white!

Students also had the option of moving the paint around with unconventional paintbrushes, such as a q-tip, to create lines or dots on the surface.

Their painted hearts were then arranged into a thoughtful composition by Mrs. Reid onto a background with the word "love" repeating to tie in the artwork's theme of love and warmth!

Mrs. Lopes & Ms. Sharlene's Primary class Valentine artwork is a charming creation full of soft, elegant colors. Under the guidance of our Art Instructor Mrs. Reid, each child created a small heart collage using patterned papers and colorful markers by cutting, gluing, tracing, and arranging.

This art project was integrated into the Primary class work-cycle so the children could have the choice to create more than one collage if they desired.

Mrs. Reid then collected and thoughtfully arranged each heart collage onto a background of complimenting shades of pinks, blues, and purples.

The final composition reflects themes of love and community connection as each individual heart collage becomes one part of the collective whole.

Mrs. Doyle and Mrs. Lizette's Primary class Valentine artwork is a bold and striking creation full of personality! Under the guidance of our Art Instructor Mrs. Reid, each child created a small heart collage using patterned papers and colorful markers by cutting, gluing, tracing, and arranging.

Lower Elementary's class Valentine artwork is a unique creation full of warmth. Under the guidance of our Art Instructor Mrs. Reid, each young artist explored mixing a range of skin tones using tempera paints and simple color theory techniques.

Students experimented with adding varying amounts of complementary colors plus white to their mixing cups, and continuously mixed until the right shade and tone was achieved and then painted onto multiple papers.

Once dry, students cut heart shapes out of the paper using heart hole punchers. The magic of this color mixing process was that it allowed each child to discover the unique rainbow inside of both their own and their classmates' beautiful skin!

The heart cut-outs were then collected and arranged by Mrs. Reid into a thoughtful composition that reflects the beautifully diverse array of skin tones.

Upper Elementary's class Valentine artwork is a playful yet ordered creation that beautifully reflects the lively energy of this class! Under the guidance of our Art Instructor Mrs. Reid, these young artists explored a simple relief printmaking process using foam and cardboard. A relief print is one where the image is printed from a design raised on the surface of a block.

Students created a raised design by cutting out a heart shape from a piece of foam and adhering it to a flat piece of cardboard.

The black printing ink is then rolled onto the top surface of the heart and transferred to the paper by stamping it with light pressure.

Each child printed their heart repeatedly in a line until the paper was filled with rows of hearts dancing across the paper!

Middle School's class Valentine artwork is a unique creation full of individuality, attention to detail, and a hint of humor!

Under the guidance of our Art Instructor Mrs. Reid, these young artists explored a relief printmaking process known as linoleum printing in which a block of linoleum is carved to create a relief surface design. The design is made by cutting away areas of the linoleum block, rolling ink onto the top surface, and then stamping with light pressure onto paper.

The imagery created by each student ranged from animals, objects from nature, animations, shoes, geometric designs, and more! Each print was then arranged into a thoughtful heart-shaped composition by Mrs. Reid.
