The Heard Museum Guild is honored to host this Show & Sale on behalf of the juried competition artists to facilitate the sale of their entries. The artists set the prices and all proceeds from the sale of individual items will be returned to the artist. Neither the Guild nor the Heard Museum will retain any portion of the proceeds. Hence your purchases here are not a charitable donation, but a purchase of art work.
The Show & Sale features all entries from artists participating in the 2021 Juried Competition and highlights the award-winners. All 2021 Indian Fair & Market artists (juried in and invited) were eligible to participate in the juried competition. Between pandemic shutdowns, economic distress and a massive winter storm, we were thrilled to receive 220 works of art from 118 artists and delighted to award more than $65,000 to the winning artists.
Indigenous communities have been impacted disproportionately by the pandemic, both health-wise and economically. Artists watched their revenue streams dry up as art markets, POW WOWs and museums closed. When you buy from these artists, you are supporting indigenous arts and cultures.
