The historic Doolittle Raid on Tokyo immeasurably boosted U.S. morale on the homefront after numerous setbacks in the war in the Pacific. "Avenging Strike," an inspiring pencil sketch by Robert Bailey and signed by eight Doolittle Raiders, depicts the April 18, 1942 takeoff of a B-25 Mitchell from the deck of the U.S.S. Hornet to strike against the Japanese homeland. This aerial combat action remains one of the most audacious of WWII, and cemented legendary pilot and innovator Gen. J. H. "Jimmy" Doolittle's place in history. " The brave men, some of whom sacrificed their lives for this mission, are remembered as true heroes. Signatures include Lt. Col. Richard E. Cole, Maj. Gen. David M. Jones, Brig. Gen. Richard A. Knobloch, Col. James Herbert Macia Jr., Col. Joseph W. Manske, Lt. Col. Harry C. McCool, Capt. Charles John Ozuk, and Col. Henry A. Potter. Proudly display this powerful wartime sketch in your home, office, or hangar.
