Learning to Fly
This high-resolution photograph on canvas shows osprey chicks learning to fly in Wiscasset Harbor, Maine. It was taken in August 2020 by local avian photographer and osprey watcher extraordinaire Joanne Adams.
Osprey chicks fledge in early August. By mid-September, they leave the nest for their 2,000 mile solo journey south. In this image, one chick tests its wings while 2 siblings look on.
