Panda Bear was one of the most beautiful dogs to come into our life both inside and out. His unique personality and love for everyone both canine and human touched our hearts and souls for eternity. Tragically, Panda was diagnosed with advanced osteosarcoma last June. This type of cancer is very aggressive, fatal and the most painful cancer there is for a dog. By then it is too late. Having to end his life was the worst decision of our lives. He was just over six and a half years old.We are so grateful to the doctors at Lap of Love and all the support they gave us. Not a day goes by that he is not in our thoughts. We know he is now pain free and running with all of our previous dogs, Panda I, Dakota, Tori and Sugar.
Caleb was our Siberian Husky rescue. He was locked in an outdoor pen when they found they couldn't breed him. We rescued him when he was 10 months old. He had never been allowed to run so his legs didn't develop properly and as he aged he had to have surgery on both his hind legs. He was sweet, kind and so gentle. We've had dogs all of our lives and I may not have a favorite child but he was definitely my favorite dog - ever. I took this picture of him the month he turned 11 years old. He found out he had cancer a couple weeks later and he died 4 months after that. He was the dog love of my life and I still miss him.
Sheila was an adorable Shih Tzu/Poodle mix. She was our gift to our daughter on her 7th birthday. She and her dad chose Sheila because of her adorable face and how she came right up to them and engaged with them eagerly. She never cared much for other dogs - she was a true people-loving dog!
Sheila and my daughter grew up together. One of my favorite times was when they would play chase - Michelle would run and say "Gonna get you!" and she and Sheila would race around the house or outdoors on the lawn, in a park, wherever we were.
Sheila was full of energy and always eager to greet people. She loved to roll over and have someone rub her belly - heaven forbid someone broke into our house, she probably wouldn't even bark, just stop, drop and roll! She was quite the barker though, and clearly NO ONE was allowed to pass our house on foot. She was certain she would catch that anole or squirrel, and in fact the "great white huntress" actually killed a snake once! I called her nine pounds of furry fury.
Her love of nature and walks only exceeded her unconditional love for us. She is missed greatly. We love you Sammie.
They Loved having their picture taken!
He rescued me 6 years ago. He was the most gentle, loyal, loving living creature I have had the pleasure of knowing. He loved all dogs, cats, people, his walks and his treats. He danced for joy every time you entered the room. Love you Nicky boy.
Jessie was rescued as a stray at 6 months old. This is her last birthday she was able to celebrate. Over the 15 1/2 years she was unconditionally loved by our family, she taught our other dog how to be a dog, all of us about unconditional love, how fun anything and everything can be, laughter really is the best medicine (besides puppy love), and not chewing your food makes it taste even better! At about 5 years of age, she was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor on the tip of her tail and beat cancer like a champion after having it amputated. She was like a new puppy and was also one of those special animals that could sense character, tragedy, and love in people.About 8 months after this photo was taken, she broke her rear leg due to what we believed to be cancer as well. The same week of her surgery, her sister dog developed severe pneumonia and passed away. Jessie recovered well, but after what her body had been through and the loss of her sister, she passed away at home a month and a half later. This photo is one of my favorites of her because it shows her love for life, (& her love for food) and the endless puppy energy she carried with her nearly 16 years...she partied so hard she couldn't even keep her hat on straight! She was my soul dog and my everything. Rest easy, Jessie Girl.
Bosun & Matey were best buds. They were loving, caring and loved to talk & swim. There were 3 years apart in age, and we lost them both when they were 12 years old, 3 years apart. We love & miss our precious fur babies.
My sweet boy Dwight was my loyal companion for 12 years, he was an instant friend to everyone he met. He was the absolute most faithful, sweet, loving, smart and silliest looking dog ever. He was my shadow and never left my side. He was up for any adventure as long as he could be with me. In his end days, I was amazed, he did everything he could to continue being my best friend and companion. In his last moments he continued to comforted me and gave me one last final kiss a moment before he passed. Dwight's cute little ways, his snuggles are irreplaceable, he is and always will be dearly missed.
