It's Good for You by John Miller

John Miller is known for his larger-than-life blown glass sculptures. He tries to find an equilibrium between the intensity of glass blowing and the humor which can be found in art and the art-making process. His work is about control and proportion as much as it is about finding new textures and forms and having fun. Homer Simpson would agree.

Lumina Series Brooch by Donald Friedlich

**1st Place, Jewelry**

A leading figure in contemporary jewelry, Don Friedlich's work has been shown in museums all over the world and is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Corning Museum of Glass and many others.

Don says, "For the last few years, I've been focused on exploiting the fact that, when worn, jewelry is viewed in motion. This Lumina Series Brooch, changes color dramatically when viewed from different angles. The photo shows three different views of the same brooch. I've used the unique optical qualities of dichroic glass to achieve this effect. While this design has volume, it is hollow and quite light and easy to wear."

Firefly Lantern by Luke Milanak

The sun has just set behind the mountains, a light August breeze carries the distinct smell of the river by your nose, and the summer twilight twinkles by the light of a thousand lightning bugs. Firefly Lantern is inspired by memories of evenings like these. This work synthesizes one of nature's most special insects by using LED lights as a stand in for live fireflies. An Arduino microcontroller sets the lights to a randomized pattern and a switch mounted in the base turns the power on and off.
