Your $2,500 donation will support the Stonington Historical Society's exhibition program. Exhibitions at the Lighthouse Museum, the Woolworth Library, and the Captain Palmer House are seen by thousands of people every year. Donations to our exhibition program will allow us to expand on current exhibitions, shine the spotlight on underrepresented stories in our museums, and launch seasonal exhibitions that will attract new visitors and local residents alike.
Your donation of $1,000 will support the preservation of our historic structures. As the guardians of the Lighthouse Museum, the Captain Palmer House, the bank, and the Arcade, funds are always needed to support the care and keeping of these pillars of our community. Preserving these structures preserves our Stonington story.
A donation of $500 will help underwrite the Historical Society's school education program. History education is incredibly important for young people, as it fosters critical thinking skills, cultivates a connection t0 our collective community, and helps students develop empathy. Funds will allow us to expand our existing school programs at Stonington High School and other schools, create lesson plans, and expand our outreach in the education system.
A $250 gift will help the Historical Society make our knowledge and collection accessible to everyone, everywhere online. The COVID-19 pandemic has made every institution rethink how we share our stories, including us. With these funds, we can digitize archival materials, create new online exhibitions, and write new blog posts about the stories we preserve.
Your gift of $100 will help support the many programs put on every month by the Historical Society. We host everything from lectures on Stonington's history to to pop-ups like the Rosalie Thorne McKenna Community Photo Exhibition. Programs are a great way to engage our neighbors with our mission.
