About the Artist: With descendants from Grand Portage, Sam Zimmerman is a painter and school administrator based in Duluth. Zimmerman draws on his Ojibwe heritage to create vibrant images filled with symbolism. He passionately believes in artistic expression as a gateway for education and cultural understanding. This led Zimmerman to a life of painting, educating, and storytelling on the shores of Lake Superior. His work is currently in private collections both in the United States and abroad. About the Artist: Dan Wiemer is a landscape artist based in Red Wing, MN. The majority of his work is created in watermedia. As a past president of the MN Watercolor Society, he sees firsthand the endless variety of ways to handle watermedia. Wiemer doesn't try to replicate nature, but tries to distill, stylize and give the viewer his interpretation, something they can be a part of. Currently Wiemer is a fine artist, illustrator and workshop instructor.
