"The Chicago Bean"

Wish Kid Malia has been dreaming of the day she will see the sun set over the Chicago skyline in person. That dream will become a reality when Malia's wish to drive to Chicago for a dining experience is granted!

Enter local artist, Stacey Hendry. Stacey paints breathtaking scenes with phenomenal layering and dimension. When offering to contribute to this year's auction, Stacey asked if we had any wish kids who would be interested in drawing out their vision for their wish, which she would then use as inspiration for a professional painting. As it turns out, Wish Kid Malia is an exceptional artist who was gracious enough to share her talents with us. Malia created a simple sketch of what she imagined her wish might look like, and with that, the collaboration of the year was born! Over the course of several weeks, Stacey put brush to canvas to make Malia's vision come alive - with a stunning result!

Named by Wish Kid Malia herself, "The Chicago Bean" embodies the generosity of our Make-A-Wish supporters, the transformative effect dreaming of a future wish has on a child who is facing critical illness and the joy and hope that lies at the heart of every wish we grant.
