Description: "Weaving is a meditation, and while creating this tapestry I often reflected on the relationship between plants, insects, and the Earth. Especially during the pandemic, I have found great solace in embracing and celebrating the natural rhythms around me."
Artist Statement: "Over the past few years, I've worked with a variety of art mediums (film, drawing, painting, sculpture, weaving) that have each presented its own unique challenges. A through line in my work, however, is an interest in constructing a world, and conveying narrative through movement and compelling visuals. The ideas I contend with in my work are sometimes darker and more serious, but I have always approached it with a sense of playfulness and whimsicality. This approach represents perhaps one way in which we might come to terms with life's absurdities and contradictions."
