Climbing Clementis (estimated value: $150)

A dark brick wall provides the background for the metal trellis holding baby blue clematis flowers. The finely detailed quilting on the flowers brings this scene to life. Both hand and machine applique were used on the detail of this piece, and the whole wall quilt was machine quilted. A fabric sleeve on the back makes hanging in your home easy.

This quilt (finished size is 18-1/2" x 24") was designed and created by Marlene Brown Woodfield, a nationally known fabric artist. She has received countless awards in competitions across the country, and her quilts have been featured in books, magazines, calendars, and other publications. Marlene has two quilts in the Indiana State Museum permanent collection (Indianapolis, IN), one quilt in the founder's collection at the National Quilt Museum (Paducah, Kentucky), and three quilts in the online collection of Archive of Folk Culture, American Folklife Center, Library of Congress (Washington, D.C.). Marlene has lived with CLL for 33+ years and is also a 20+ year breast cancer survivor. She was a part of the clinical trial for Imbruvica and knows firsthand the importance of research to fight cancer. She is pleased to donate this piece to support ResearcHERS.
