With each vintage of the acclaimed Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, the Beringer Winemaker chooses the best lots from their reserve vineyards in the Napa Valley, each of which demonstrate remarkable expression of terroir. Beringer's extraordinary collection of vineyards is the result of a significant and decades-long relationship between viticulture and winemaking.

Tasting Note

Rich, full-bodied and deeply rewarding, this vintage expression is one for the ages (and aging). Notes of crème de cassis, black and blue fruits and baking spices frame flavors of ripe plum, dark cherry and chocolate in a muscular yet exceedingly well balanced and elegant wine. A memorable, lingering finish continues to reveal multiple layers of complexity to be enjoyed over the next two decades.

Vintage

After a relatively dry January significant rainfall arrived in February, along with mild temperatures. Bud break was early, but was slowed by heavy April showers. While still early by historical standards, picking began about a week later than 2015, and continued at a leisurely pace, allowing the grapes to reach full flavor maturity. The extended season helped to balance acids and add complexity to the layers of flavors. Warm temperatures arrived as harvest began, but ultimately, everything came together in the best possible way.

6 Bottles of Doubleback Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Tasting Notes

For the first time, the Estate Reserve is not technically a Cabernet Sauvignon - staying true to the goal of this wine - crafting each vintage's very best red wine from our estate vineyards. Tobacco, leather, basalt, fresh soil after a summer rain, cedar, and blackberry. There are so many layers to this wine. Framed to be a touch larger than the Doubleback Cabernet, there is good fruit sweetness, beautiful fine grained tannin, and a sexy and lingering finish. If opening now, decant in the morning to enjoy that night, or cellar this wine through 2043.

Vintage Notes

The season started a tad later than in recent years and also had a more "normal" summer - meaning fewer heat spikes and more even ripening. On October 9th, the real defining moment of the vintage came when a fall frost event wiped out nearly all of eastern Washington and growers rushed to pick their fruit- Doubleback chose to wait it out. That decision paid off. The fruit was allowed to hang with perfect canopies and finished harvest on October 26th with Petit Verdot from McQueen.

Nickle Creek Vineyard Gift Basket

In 2007, the O'Connor's discovered the property in Foster RI and after much research deemed the gravelly soils, warm days, and cool nights to be ideal for winemaking. Over the next ten years Steven, Sheri and their two sons (Nicholas & Kyle, for whom the vineyard is named after) planted grapes and constructed the current winery on the property, and in 2012 opened Nickle Creek Vineyard. Later that same year, the first wines bearing the NCV label were produced, bottled and sold. A garnet-flecked ruby red, it releases generous, emphatic fragrances classic to Sangiovese, developing a near-endless progression notable for its beautiful balance.

Tasting Notes

The 2018 Battle of the Corona Dragon is everything the 2017 was, but more. Fresh, ripe, dark fruit exudes from the glass. Blackberry and black cherry are balanced by hints of pie crust and barrel spice. The palate is incredibly juicy and concentrated, but the wine has a velvety richness. The finely textured tannins provide just enough strength to the wine, without being overpowering. It presents perfectly seamless from start to finish.

A lifted nose filled with baking spices reminiscent of a delicious, warm
strawberry-blackberry-rhubarb pie. Notes of vanilla, butter crust, nutmeg, and a hint of
clove. The palate is very approachable, luscious and pretty, the mouthwatering acidity gives length, and playful, chalky tannins provide structure. Rich, round and mouthcoating, with a nuanced core of vibrant red and black fruits (cherries, red currants, plum, mulberry) and a hint of cedar. A ripe, vibrant and textural wine with a softness that invites early drinking.

The 2018 offers a more perfumed, pretty bouquet of lemon zest, honeysuckle, white flowers, and a terrific sense of minerality. Playing in the more medium-bodied end of the spectrum, it has a great mid-palate, concentrated fruit, bright acidity, and a classy, lengthy finish. It's a stunner that's going to evolve for 10-15 years.

A creamy, full-bodied, voluptuous Californian Chardonnay with layers of buttered red apple, butterscotch, lemon pudding flavours and a long and zesty finish. The Kistler family has been making Burgundian-inspired Chardonnay and Pinot Noir since 1978.

The goal for this wine is finesse and complexity which is enhanced by using long, slow, native fermentations. From the Napa side of Carneros, this Chardonnay is a beautiful golden color. The nose opens up with some lemon peel, pear and lemongrass notes, followed by toasted almonds and jasmine. The nose ends on a mineral tone reminiscent of gunpowder. In the mouth the wine is driven by a silky smooth texture that evolves with beautiful long acidity and a touch of sweetness ending on a refreshing mineral note

A gothic mauve with a vivid neon rim, the wine appears almost black in the glass. Notes of wetstone, Black plum and crushed gravel revererate from within. Bold upfront, the palate is all-enveloping with mixed berry crepe, black licorice and a touch of char. Layered and omnipotent in weight, the wine finishes with ripe Petite Sirah tannins, providing a pleasant closing texture.

Brilliant ruby. Spice-accented aromas of ripe red fruits, candied flowers, earth and smoky minerals; a zesty white pepper quality emerges with aeration. Sweet, expansive and energetic on the palate, offering intense raspberry, spicecake and lavender flavors and a subtle touch of smoke. Completely stains the palate and shows outstanding clarity on the strikingly long, focused finish, where smooth tannins make a late appearance.
