This one-of-a-kind bowl was hand turned by Old Lyme's Alan Todd and came from an old Sugar Maple tree in Old Lyme. As rough and gnarly as it looked on the outside, it revealed very interesting "figure" in the wood when the bowl was turned. The black irregular lines that run through the wood are called "spalting". Another feature in this bowl is "quilting", which is where there is a pattern that almost looks like bubbling on the surface of the wood.

After the bowl was turned it was finished with several coats of Danish Oil. It is food safe. Bowl measures 15" diameter x 6.5" deep.
