I belong to a quilt group, called Threads United, from the United Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Waukesha. We started about 6 years ago and have about 8 members We gather alternating Wednesdays (not since March, though) and have donated more than 150 quilts to various children's charities or anyone we feel is in dire need of a quilt made with love. We've been meeting via Zoom since the pandemic and showing off what we've been sewing at home. This is a 27"x42" lap size or baby blanket size quilt. Holly created the quilt top from scrap fabric from her collection, as well as her mother's and sister's. Holly's mother, Rita, hand quilted and completed the binding. It was truly made with love as a family endeavor!

Using the colors of the bisexual pride flag, this 41"x53" quilt gently asserts and affirms the existence of bi and pansexual people. Bi- and pansexuality are valid identities, and remain true regardless of the person's relationship status or the gender(s) or their partner(s). Biphobia is common even with other queer communities, as well as in the cishet world. We are not temporary, we are not indecisive, and we are not greedy. We exist. 58"x74, 100% cotton, machine wash & dry, pre-washed. The scrappy design of this quilt almost resembles jewels! A wide variety of small pieces of color coordinated fabric were sewn together into blocks. Each block is bordered with a black and white stripe fabric, then assembled. The backing was carefully pieced using assorted black and white prints.

The pattern of this quilt is called "Trip Around the World." I decided to use rainbow colors in support of the LGBTQ community so, I have named it, "Trip Around the Rainbow World." This quilt is square and approximately 55"x55". I made this quilt myself from start to finish.

Yarn is 92% polyester. It's suggested to hand wash. I never wash my crocheted afghans too frequently (once or twice a year, and I always wash them in the washer on delicate cycle and let them air dry and has never been an issue). This afghan is incredibly soft! It would make the perfect baby shower gift, or a fantastic dorm blanket. Any child, or adult, would love to snuggle up with this one on a chilly day.

This is a Dissent Collar Quilt. It is a paper pieced pattern: raw edges finished and placed in a display frame. The frame measures 11 x 14 inches.

I'm am so happy to donate this Framed Dissent Collar Quilt to the auction. To me, this represents social justice; is to honor the outspoken voices that lift others. The dissent collar was worn by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg. She wore a collar like this when she presented the dissenting opinion. The jabot (which is what the collar is called) was first used by RBG and Sandra Day O'Conner - it was used instead of a tie that male justices wore under their robes and which peeked out at the top. The women wore something that had a similar aesthetic but with their own twist.
