Les attended Centre College in 1974 and that's when his ceramic career began. After graduation, he worked in various community classes around central Kentucky. Les continued his ceramic career in 1982 with an apprenticeship under a Master Potter Charles Count in Rising Fawn, Georgia. Once he completed his apprenticeship, Les moved back to Kentucky and established an in-home studio. In 2010, Broadway Clay was established by Les and another Frankfort potter.
