More than 90 percent of the American Red Cross workforce is volunteers. Every year, more than 1000 individuals volunteered their time to support the mission of the Red Cross, Greater Columbus Chapter - an increase over previous years, largely resulting from the frequency and severity of large-scale episodic disasters and the visibility of affected communities.
The Red Cross had more than 300,000 volunteers nationwide last fiscal year.
This includes leadership volunteers: The Greater Columbus Board chairman and members of the Board of Directors, Advisory Board, Associate Board of Community Volunteer Leaders who are unpaid volunteers for their board services.
