Mariinsky Theatre
$1,900Mariinsky Theatre
The Mariinsky Theatre traces its illustrious cultural history as far back as 1783. For more than two centuries the Mariinsky has presented the world with a wide range of outstanding Russian and International artists. Great opera singers honed their skills and rose to glory. Ballet dancers (including Nureyev and Baryshnikov) reigned supreme on the stage. This is where George Balanchine set out on the road to art. Brilliant theatre decorators created immortal scenic designs.
In 1988 Valery Gergiev was appointed General Director and Artistic Director. Gergiev himself has become a world treasure on the cultural music scene. He and his Orchestra, Ballet and Opera companies have made several unforgettable appearances at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. In 2006 the company was presented with its magnificent new Concert Hall, built on Maestro Gergiev's initiative.
The Mariinsky tree is inspired by the magnificence of the architectural and cultural life of St. Petersburg, with several ornamental keepsakes.
Holiday Greetings to my dearest friends in Orange County! I wish you good health and all hopeful wishes for the New Year!

The Center Docents, SCFTA
$1,530The Center Docents, Segerstrom Center for the Arts
The Center Docents was founded in 1987, and as a support group of the Center's Education Department, its volunteers lead more than 1,600 children and adults each year on tours of Segerstrom Center, exploring the architecturally distinguished buildings which have become some of Orange County's most immediately recognizable landmarks and cultural symbols. In addition to the tours and assisting with education programs at the Center, they raise money for scholarships to our Five Days of Broadway musical theater program for students who would otherwise not be able to participate.
Because the arts can open the doors to creativity and wonderment, we chose "Believe in the Magic" as our theme, and the whimsy of friendly snowmen as our primary motif. The tree is dressed in the white of snow, the red of his scarf and the black of his magical top hat.
The winning bidder will receive a $100 gift certificate for Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

VAALA
$1,000Vietnamese American Arts & Letters Association (VAALA)
VAALA was founded in 1991 by a group of Vietnamese American journalists, artists, and friends to fill a void and provide a space for artists to express themselves as a newly resettled immigrant community. VAALA is a community-based non-profit organization historically run by volunteers with the mission to connect and enrich communities through Vietnamese arts and culture.
Over the years, VAALA has collaborated with diverse community partners to organize a variety of cultural events. These events have included art workshops and exhibitions under the Gallery Beyond Walls program, book signings, music recitals, plays, literacy events such as Viet Book Fest, and the annual Viet Film Fest.
Holidays around the world are a time for celebration, family festivities, and delicious food. Our Holiday Tree is inspired by special ingredients that are used to create enticing foods central to all Vietnamese festivities. Food has the ability to bring people together, connecting different generations and cultures. Hanging from the tree's branches, like bountiful fruits, are some essential ingredients used in many Vietnamese dishes: rice, dried noodles, mung beans, and some special items such as the star anises, agar agar, and tapioca pearls.
We completed our tree with print clippings of VAALA's "food for the soul" art programs and events. Since its establishment in 1991, VAALA has organized hundreds of delectable community events, including the annual Viet Film Fest, Autumn Moon Fest, Gallery Beyond Walls (Project Foto, Illuminated Recipes), art exhibitions such as F.O.B.: A Multi-Art Show, F.O.B.II: Art Speaks, TransformART, Generations: 40 Hues Between Black and White, and numerous literary events. The beautiful children's books at the base of the tree were featured in our inaugural Viet Book Fest (held recently in October) and are included with our Holiday Tree as presents, along with gift cards to popular local restaurants, so you can directly experience and savor the numerous fruits of Vietnamese culture.

East West Players
$550East West Players
Founded in 1965, East West Players is committed to raising the visibility of the Asian American experience by presenting inventive world-class theatrical productions, developing artists of color, and providing impactful youth education programs.
In spite of troubled times, Little Tokyo still endures as one of three remaining daily operating Japan-towns in the nation and has held a tradition of making space for artists and art incubation throughout its 130-year history-be it the birth of cool blues and West Coast Jazz during the Bronzeville period, the hub for the Punk scene at the Atomic Cafe, the theatres for performance groups like ours, Cold Tofu, and JACCC that continue to operate and the many classical Japanese practices that are upheld to this day at temples and other creative spaces throughout the community. Just as the state of California has honored the community as one of its state-recognized "Cultural Districts", we honor Little Tokyo by featuring handcrafted Origami ornaments and paper doves.
We also celebrate the many artists who have contributed to EWP's legacy with photos personally autographed by Asian American luminaries from the arts and entertainment world, Dee Dee Magno Hall (Steven Universe), Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars, Disney's Raya and the Last Dragon), Francois Chau (The Expanse), Zehra Fazal (Netflix's She Ra, Batman: Death in the Family), Emily Kuroda (Gilmore Girls), Jon Jon Briones (Ratched), Isa Briones (Star Trek: Picard), and Gedde Watanabe (16 Candles, Gung Ho).

Pageant of the Masters
$1,619Festival of Arts / Pageant of the Masters
The Festival of Arts of Laguna Beach mission is to promote, produce, and sponsor events and activities that encourage the appreciation, study and performance of the arts. Every summer the organization hosts California's premier open air fine art show and produces its most famous attraction, the "Pageant of the Masters."
Featuring an outdoor amphitheater, professional orchestra, original score, live narration, intricate sets, sophisticated lighting, expert staff and hundreds of dedicated volunteers, the Pageant of the Masters is one of the most unique productions in the world.
Every summer since 1933, ticket holders have been amazed and enchanted by ninety minutes of "tableaux vivants" (living pictures), incredibly faithful recreations of classical and contemporary works of art, with real people posing to look exactly like their counterparts in the original pieces.
This tree features 24 mini masterpiece replicas hand painted by Pageant of the Masters Director Diane Challis Davy. She has selected 24 iconic images from the book "The Story of Painting" by Sister Wendy Beckett. The mini recreations were drawn freehand and then painted with acrylic paint on canvas boards. Most of the pictures took about 2 hours to paint. All are framed and the artist hopes that her little paintings will have a life beyond the holiday season. Viewers will recognize works by Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Edouard Manet and other master artists whose paintings have often been transformed into life-sized recreations in the world-famous Pageant of the Masters.
Also adorning the tree are artist's palettes, mini classical statuettes and a tree topper made of artist's paint brushes. The picture frames and garlands add a golden glamor to the overall effect.
Tree ornaments include 6 (six) tickets to the VIP Night performance of next summer's Pageant of the Masters, "Made in America," on July 6th. Plus, enjoy a private behind-the-scenes tour for 6 (six) during a Pageant rehearsal, prior to the show (date TBD). At which time, the winner will have the rare and exclusive opportunity to meet Pageant Director Diane Challis Davy and watch the making of a living picture.

The inspiration for OCMA's holiday tree is from our current exhibition of Alexandra Grant. The tree is an interpretation of her work "She Said to Creon." Inspired by her works of love, the design is centered around hope. Hope gives us a positive feeling in this time of uncertainty, while also connecting to the future of building OCMA- NEW, NOW, NEXT.
