Artist: Deborah R. Hill
Description of Buffalo: "Standing Majestic Within the Circus of Mankind" Hill decided to make a conceptual piece of art opposed to a realistic interpretation. The buffalo is approximately 18" long and 12" high and made of terra cotta.
Artist Bio: The Artist finds inspiration in the depth of colour and form in the natural world, rural vistas, beaches, and marsh, equally inspired working from a still life arrangement. Working in both studio and plein air, Hill conveys an element if familiarity via her subject matter, by interjecting abstract elements through the means of color, brushwork, and paint application. Hill provides the viewer a kind of "visual roadmap" to navigate through the painting.
The artists series "Crossroads" is an ongoing body of work where the main concept is mobility. The series explores the idea that mobility is not limited to physical actions, it can be a "state of mind" ruled by circumstances. An the subject of the horse, being one of our first means of mobility.
