With over 200 tries, Baker ranks first among Americans and seventh among all players in career tries scored in the World Series. Baker has established himself as one of the best rugby sevens players in the world. In the 2015-16 World Series, Baker ranked second with 48 tries scored and was one of seven players named to the World Series Dream Team. In the 2016-17 World Series, Baker ranked first with 57 tries scored, was again named to the World Series Dream Team, and won the 2017 and 2018 World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year award.

Taufete'e first started playing rugby in an effort to impress his now-wife, during her family's heavy involvement with the Belmont Shore Youth Rugby Program.

In 2011, he was a member of the Belmont Shores u19s before moving up to the Belmont Shore D1 side a year later. In 2014, Taufete'e split time playing for Sciota Valley R.F.C. (Columbus, OH) and Otorohanga R.F.C. (Waikato, New Zealand). He made his full international debut at Rugby World Cup 2015 against South Africa and returned in 2016 to captain the developmental USA Rugby Selects (XV) in the Americas Pacific Challenge.

In 2019, Taufete'e became the highest scoring hooker in test match rugby history, claiming the record from Keith Wood who captured it in 50 test appearances. Taufete'e's achievement came in less than half that number of caps.

Te'o was defensive captain of the Long Beach Poly football team for two years before switching to rugby. He won the 2012 IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy with the USA Rugby AIG Men's Junior All-Americans and made his debut for the Men's Eagles Sevens later at Gold Coast Sevens during the 2012-13 IRB HSBC Sevens World Series.

Clever was the fourth-youngest capped Eagle at age 20 when he made his debut against Argentina in August 2003. That same year, Clever made his first trip to the Rugby World Cup as a member of the Men's Eagles, though he did not make an appearance. Four years and 15 caps later, he was selected to the USA's 2007 Rugby World Cup squad and this time was a full-time starter. In that tournament Clever intercepted a pass against South Africa that set up a famously long try by Takudzwa Ngwenya. In 2008, Clever captained the United States to Churchill Cup bowl win over Georgia and then clinched a 2011 Rugby World Cup birth by winning a home-and-away series against Uruguay. Clever would captain the Men's Eagles in the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

From 2004 to 2009, Clever was also a member of the Men's Eagles Sevens and made 24 appearances on the World Rugby Sevens Series.

Clever broke the record for most international test appearances by an American with his 68th cap against Russia in the summer of 2016.

His first taste at professional rugby came in 2006 with North Harbour of the National Provincial Championship in New Zealand. He would later become the first-ever American to play in the Super 14 (Super Rugby), as a member of the South African Lions. Clever would go on to play four years in the Japan Top League (Suntory Sungoliath, NTT Shining Arc) before leaving for the Newcastle Falcons of the Aviva Premiership. Clever is currently a co-owner and strategic partner for the Huns Rugby Management group and plays for the Austin Huns.

Richie McCaw captained the New Zealand national team, the All Blacks, in 110 out of his 148 test matches, and won two Rugby World Cups. He has won the World Rugby player of the year award a joint record three times and was the most capped test rugby player of all time from August 2015 to October 2020.

McCaw was the first All Black to reach 100 caps, and the first rugby union player to win 100 tests. He was the most-capped player in rugby union history with 148 caps, having overtaken Brian O'Driscoll's record in 2015 and losing the record to Alun Wyn Jones in 2020. McCaw has also equaled the record for most appearances at the Rugby World Cup with Jason Leonard.

Kieren Read is currently playing as a Number 8 for Toyota Verblitz in the Japanese Top League and is a former captain of the All Blacks, New Zealand's national rugby union team.

Read played for New Zealand from 2008-2019 and is one of the most-capped players of all time, was the IRB Player of the Year in 2013 and a key member of 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cup winning teams, becoming one of only 20 players to have won multiple Rugby World Cups. Read Captained New Zealand 52 times in his career and is the second-to-most capped All Black Captain, after Richie McCaw.

Read scored 26 tries during his international rugby career and is also the third-most-capped All Black in history, having played over 127 tests across his 11-year career for New Zealand.

Francois Pienarr played flanker for South Africa (the Springboks) from 1993 until 1996, winning 29 international caps, all of them as captain. He is best known for leading South Africa to victory in the 1995 Rugby World Cup.

John Smit was the 50th captain of the South Africa national team, and led the team to win the 2007 Rugby World Cup. He played most of his senior career as a hooker, but also won 13 caps as a prop, where he had also played for South Africa's under-21 team. He retired from international rugby following the 2011 Rugby World Cup as the most-capped South African player ever, with 111 appearances.

Siya Kolisi currently captains the South Africa national team and also plays club rugby for the Stormers in Super Rugby and Western Province in the Currie Cup. He generally plays as a flanker. In 2018, Kolisi was appointed captain of the Springboks, becoming the first black man to hold the position, and eventually leading the South African Rugby team to victory in the 2019 Rugby World Cup Final against England. In December 2019, Kolisi was named in New African magazine's list of 100 Most Influential Africans.
