Get ready for this one (1) hour lesson with Mighty Mac head coach Jen Rees DeJarld '87. The lesson can be private for one person, or it can be held for a group of up to four (4). Lesson will be held in May 2020 at a date/time that is mutually agreed upon.

Jen Rees DeJarld '87 Head Volleyball Coach
This year, Coach DeJarld enters her 18th season as Head Coach of the Mighty Mac Volleyball program of Mother McAuley High School. She has been coaching Volleyball at Mother McAuley for the past 24 years. DeJarld has led the program to seven tournament appearances, including its latest State Championship in 2016.

DeJarld was named 2016 National Coach of the Year by Prep Volleyball and Coach of the Year by The Daily Southtown. In 2013, DeJarld coached the McAuley Mighty Macs to the Illinois 4A Championship. Then in 2014, the Mighty Macs, which featured both of DeJarld's daughters - Ryann and Jane - finished the season ranked 7th nationally. That year DeJarld was honored as "Coach of the Year" for her efforts. She also was selected to present at the Men's NCAA Final Four convention in Chicago on the topic of serving to score. Jen has twice been a presenter for The Art of Coaching Clinic.

As a former Mighty Mac Volleyball player herself, Coach DeJarld won two state titles in 1984 and 1985 and went on to play at the collegiate level at the University of Iowa, coached by Ruth Nelson.

Get ready for softball with this entry into McAuley's summer softball camp, run by head coach Kathleen Mixan '03! Dates and times to be announced.

Kathleen Mixan '03, Head Softball Coach
Coach Mixan played varsity softball all four years. She was a three sport athlete also playing basketball and volleyball. She then attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she earned a bachelor's in arts and sciences: applied psychology and played softball her freshman year. Mixan played for the Beverly Bandits 14U-18U under Bill Conroy and helped win the Bandit's first National Title. She later went on to earn her master's in school counseling from Northeastern Illinois University and a second master's in educational leadership from the American College of Education in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Most recently, Mixan worked as a school counselor at J. Sterling Morton West High School in Berwyn and is currently the lead college/athletic counselor for Lighthouse College Planning in Chicago.

In addition to counseling, Mixan brings tremendous knowledge and experience in coaching. Since 2013, she served as the head JV girls' volleyball coach and assistant varsity softball coach at St. Ignatius College Prep; in 2015 the softball team placed 4th in state. Prior to that, Mixan coached the varsity girls' volleyball team at Plainfield East High School and the varsity boys' volleyball at St. Rita of Cascia High School where they finished in the Elite Eight in 2010.

Keisha Newell, Head Basketball Coach
At Roosevelt, Coach Newell set a record for the school with the most wins by a women's basketball team since 2013-2014. She departs Roosevelt with a record of 59-62, including 16-14 this past season. Prior to joining the Roosevelt athletic department, Newell worked as the student athletic recruiter in undergraduate admissions at North Park University.

Newell is a graduate of University Chicago, where as an undergrad she played point guard for the Ramblers. Following her 2010 graduation, she worked as director of operations for the Loyola women's basketball program. One year later, she became the assistant women's basketball coach and recruiting coordinator.

In 2018, Newell earned a master's degree in organization development from Roosevelt University. She is a graduate of Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights.

This certificate is good for two (2) sessions through the Elite Volleyball Program at the H.S. for Agricultural Sciences. Class times available: 11am to 12:30pm (3rd-5th grade), 11am to 1pm (6th-12th grade).

About Therese Boyle-Niego '82 and Anne Eastman-Kuziela
Therese Boyle-Niego brings to Elite Volleyball Program, Inc. an extensive, high-profile volleyball career as both coach and player. Boyle-Niego was an All-American and National Champion from the University of Pacific as well as a high school All-American and State Champion at Mother McAuley High School, where she has had her jersey retired. She played and coached in the first-ever women's indoor volleyball league before serving as head coach at Loyola University Chicago. At Loyola, she led the team to its first-ever NCAA Tournament spot. Boyle-Niego also coached at the University of Wisconsin. She is married and has six children.

Anne Eastman-Kuziela brings extensive coaching and playing experience to Elite Volleyball Program, Inc. Eastman-Kuziela was a First Team All Big Ten, All Academic Big Ten, and a Big Ten Medal of Honor recipient at Indiana University. She served as Captain of the U.S. Olympic Festival Team, was a member of the U.S. National Team at the World Games in Japan, played professional volleyball in Switzerland, and was an original member of the USPV Dream Team. Eastman-Kuziela was a Mother McAuley High School MVP and voted Most Improved Player. She is married and has two children.

About Midlothian Country Club
Originally designed by well-known course architect Herbert J. Tweedie, Midlothian was the first privately owned club established South of Chicago. The original club included a nine hole auxiliary course. Members and their families had to score 72 or less on the practice course before they were allowed to play the main 18-hole course.

The original clubhouse and the surrounding cottages became a summer colony for dozens of members and their families. Transportation was such a concern in the early days that the club replaced horse drawn "Tally-Ho" wagons with its own railroad. The small locomotive and two passenger coaches made 14 trips daily along the 3 mile system, making Midlothian the only golf club in the world, other than St. Andrews in Scotland, to own its own railroad.

Many amateur and professional tournaments have been contested at Midltothian over the years. Walter Hagen defeated Chick Evans to win the 1914 U.S. Open at Midlothian - the first of his 11 major championships. South African Bobby Locke won the Chicago Victory National Open in 1948 and Billy Casper won Western Opens at Midlothian in 1969 and 1973.
