In March of 2020, I found myself at a residency in the North East corner of Georgia as the pandemic was unfolding. Feeling trapped, helpless, and overwhelmed, I created a body of work focused on depersonalization, face masks, and an evolving sense of existential dread. By mutating an existing body of work that focuses on queer identity and color, i co-opted the language of delicate colors, soft expressions, and quiet hopelessness into this new COVID-19 induced panic.
