Dear Friends,

We are excited to welcome you to our 2020 Mid-Autumn Festival Virtual celebration.  The Mid-Autumn Festival is a holiday where friends and family gather and celebrate the fall harvest under the full moon.  As 2020 has been a tumultuous year for all of us, we'd like, more than ever, to celebrate this holiday and the rest of the year in cheers with all of you.  San Marino has been the community, home, and family I've known my whole life, and this year I'm especially reminded of how important it is to embrace and appreciate all of those things.  The San Marino Chinese Club greatly appreciates the residents, our members, the city, schools and leadership through these challenging times.  Seeing all the altruistic community members really continues to give positivity and hope to this City.

In our 41st anniversary year, the Club, in collaboration with our friends and partners in the city, has had many accomplishments, despite this difficult year.  In March, when COVID- 19 lead to shortages of PPE equipment, our Club gathered support from community members and our board to contribute over $50,000 in equipment to all the local hospitals.  For the first time, the city leadership, as well as executive staff, has worked alongside us to provide and approve a budget for Chinese translation services.  My fellow board members found ways to attribute $30,000 in donations to the San Marino School Foundations, during this year of fiscal hardships for the schools.  We were additionally able to continue to contribute over $20,000 to the programs across the district.  I'm very proud of our community and all the residents for stepping up in trying times.

Within the Club, we've strengthened our foundation and established an infrastructure that I'm sure will position us well for the future.   I'm proud to announce we have established an executive director for the Club and a principal at the Chinese School.  All in the month of March, under the leadership of our Directors and our two new executive staff, we were able to completely transition all staff and curriculum online.

Chinese Club of San Marino would not be here today without the support from each and every one of you.  I thank you for all your support.  Most importantly, I want to thank my 2020 board members for being amazingly thoughtful and selfless.  Without these great individuals, none of our accomplishments would be possible.

Thank you for your continued support of the club and its visions.  Here's to looking forward to the next decade of continued service in the community.

Very truly yours,

Tony Chou
