For clarification, this is not a chair to be used at the sewing machine, but a chair made from a sewing machine. Local woodworker Kenn Nilsen of Shenandoah Second Wind lets no piece of wood go to waste. He's turned this old treadle machine into an imposing chair and taken other parts to make other items (see Item 40, the table candelabra made from the machine's wheel.) The chair's frame is antique white oak taken from dismantled barns in the Valley. The seat cushion is removable and can be reupholstered to your taste. The chair measures 42 x 27; it's heavy but certainly moveable. Value $350.
