A photojournalist with more than two decades of experience, Michael McWeeney specializes in travel, documentary, and corporate photography. Mostly self-taught, he studied photojournalism at Parson's New School for Design and worked as a photographer at the Staten Island Advance. A long-time contributor to the Noble Maritime Collection's auction and exhibitions, he captured the beauty of Salt Mountain in 2006, spent a night aboard a tugboat and recorded his experience for Tugboats Night and Day in 2008, and used 400 individual images to create a 270° panorama of New York Harbor from the lighthouse for Robbins Reef Lighthouse: A Home in the Harbor. Diane Matyas is a New York City artist, instructor, author/illustrator, and museum professional. Matyas received her BFA and MFA from Cornell University's College of Architecture, Art and Planning and she graduated from Columbia's Graduate School of Business Institute for Non-profit Management Program. In addition to her studio practice, she is currently a college art instructor at Wagner College, and a teaching artist for the Guggenheim Museum's venerable Teaching Through Art Program. Matyas serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Los Angeles Public Art Project. Sage Reynolds is the senior partner of New York's Four Hands Design Studio, which he founded in 1977. He received his BFA from Florida State University and studied printmaking and bookbinding at the Croydon College of Art in England. In 2006, he began studies in silversmithing at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Reynolds' work has been included in several exhibitions and, most recently, he had a large one man show at Wagner College where works in paper, paint, and silver were shown with prints and sculpture from his long career in art. Reynolds was one of the two featured artists in the inaugural exhibition at the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art at Snug Harbor Cultural Center. He has exhibited at the Nexus Gallery in Philadelphia, the American Textile Museum in Washington, DC, and at the American Craft Museum in New York City. Bill Higgins is a native Staten Islander and is a largely self-taught fine art, commercial, and medical photographer. Higgins graduated from Richmond College in 1976 where he majored in art history and film making. He has exhibited his work at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of the City of New York, and the Staten Island Museum, where he received the Weissglass Purchase Prize. For nearly 40 years, Bill has been a medical photographer with Staten Island University Hospital. His medical photographs have been published in foreign and domestic medical journals, and he received the University Hospice Award. His fine artworks are in many national and international collections. Higgins kept a studio at Snug Harbor for many years and the location influenced his work and his approach to photography. He grew up on a houseboat moored in the Fresh Kills, and his work often has a maritime theme. Higgins took the photographs of John A. Noble that were featured in Noble's last interview with the museum's founder, Erin Urban. John Stobart is the master painter whose panoramic compositions recall the history of the maritime industry. Hailed as "the premier maritime artist of our time" by the New York Times, he is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Art with an international reputation, and his work is in major maritime collections. He was Noble's friend and joined the Board of Trustees of the museum in 2001. He began making limited edition prints from his paintings in 1974 and has donated one to each of our auctions for the past 20 years. Working with skilled printers, he supervised each edition, and many of these masterpieces are no longer available because he now concentrates solely on painting.
