Inspired by walks on the Brooklyn Bridge
Carole d'Inverno is a self-taught artist who grew up in Belgium and Italy. She moved to the US in 1979, and resides in Brooklyn, New York.
"History is central to my work.
I immigrated from Europe to the United States as a young woman. I saw the disparity in wealth, the gun violence, the racial tension, but also the familial interactions in close-knit communities, the pride in country, the belief in 'everything is possible'. I turned to history to understand the contradictions.
I travel quite a lot in the US and have seen many changes since the late '70s...Each community I study and render in paintings and drawings adds to my understanding.
To prepare for a new series I visit the local communities. I take in the scenery and spend time with locals... In the studio my intuition takes the lead and I let the facts, places, and local stories coalesce in my mind. The data is humanized. Paintings and drawings naturally reflect the community, and its people. Each new series becomes part of the whole and teaches me more.
We all have stories to tell."
Anki King

Anki King grew up in Norway and moved to NYC in 1994. She exhibits frequently both in Europe and the US. Her work is included in private and public collections including The Appleton Museum of Art, Ocala, FL. In 2010 she was the winner of the Artist of the Year Award in the London International Creative Competition. King was recently featured in the book Kunstnerliv, a collection of 19 important Norwegian contemporary artists, and also featured in the documentary Artists in NYC.
"I paint and sculpt life sized figures that act as symbols for feelings that can't accurately be described in words. They are characterized by the object symbols with which they share space. Each figure, or fragment of a figure, stands still in readiness for a charged meeting with the viewer. The viewing activates a series of responses, where identity is projected onto the faceless figure, similar to a reflection that offers the gazer another view of him/herself. This frees the narrative from being contained within the subject matter of the artwork and allows it to exist in the viewing space."

Paul's art is a meditation on our ability to understand complex systems through the imaginative eye. We understand and "see" the multidimensional by abstracting down into three- and two-dimensional representation. Physicists and mathematicians use the same faculties of abstract visualization as artists and designers.
His paintings quote graffiti and pop art of the 1980s while commenting on technology's ever-increasing influence on contemporary culture. Paul's technobabble resembles circuitry, urban systems, maps, formulas, and microbiology; inviting the viewer into an endless world of algorithm.
Paul was born in 1976 in California. He studied mathematics at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado and architecture at Columbia University in the City of New York where he currently lives and works.

It encourages the viewer to see and "hear" the words differently in each line, thereby changing the significance. There is an environmental interrogation here which can be interpreted in many ways.

Valeri Larko is best know for her densely painted landscapes of the urban fringe, all of which she paints on location. She is attracted to the decaying and abandoned structures that populated the outskirts of America's urban centers and the stories these places can tell.
"The landscape that attracts me is that of the city, or more specifically, the fringes of the city, abandoned and decaying structures, urban waterways, and graffiti laced walls, where I find grit and beauty in equal measure. Each site has its own story to tell and through patient observation acquired over months of paintng on location, I work to bring that story to life and to capture the visual poetry of these places."

Her work is in institutional and private collections nationally and internationally, such as State Silk Museum, Tbilisi, Georgia, The Foundation Center, NYC, ElephantArt, Switzerland, and other private collectors in USA, Israel and Canada. She was awarded the Two Trees studio program in 2018. She is running the online magazine Art Spiel.
"In my installation works I draw on patterns from nature and images from daily life, altogether forming hybrid landscapes which blur the line between the real and the imagined, the organic and the artificial, the chaotic and the orderly. The multiple layers of repurposed materials, both found and from my studio work, reflect my preoccupation with ephemerality-recycled, torn, stacked, manipulated-alluding to obsolescence, ecology, and transience."

Eleanor Miller has been a beloved Pelham Art Center instructor since 1989, providing profound guidance and inspiration to her students. A classically trained artist, Eleanor Grace Miller received her BA from Monmouth University, where she studied under Eleanore Mikus, a vanguard Minimalist, and Bernard Aptekar, one of the original SOHO Ten Downtown, and continued her studies at the National Academy School of Fine Arts. Miller has exhibited extensively throughout the East Coast, both in fine art galleries and corporate venues, and is the recipient of numerous awards, including Best of Show at the Museum of Fine Arts, Springfield, MA, the Anna Hyatt Huntington Award from the National Arts Club, and the Gamblin Artists Award from the Salmagundi Club. Her work is in both private and corporate collections.

Jill is the Director of What About Art?--an organization devoted to bringing Art to Everyone--and she is the Co-Director/Curator of the Anderson Chase Gallery. Jill has developed and implemented comprehensive academic and lifelong learning programs in Art History, Fine Arts, Film Studies, and the Humanities. Jill teaches for several organizations in Westchester County. Jill is a member of the Ossining Arts Council. RC Hagans is an Alabama artist who communicates in a visual stream of altered-consciousness. The 34 year-old vandal's work invites the viewer to visit a parallel dimension where the architect seems to use decay as much as evolution to shape his universe. To create a final product that is equal parts fine/folk/street art, the former cage-fighter draws on imagery from religion, pop culture, punk rock, and conspiracy theories.

Charles Fazzino, graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York City is one of the most popular and highly-collected pop artists of all time. Fazzino's artworks are exhibited in hundreds of museums and galleries in more than twenty different countries. Inspired by the glossy spreads of vintage magazines and pornography, David Kramer's paintings frequently feature shiny cars and gorgeous women looking longingly into the lens. Alternately humorous and reflective, text plays a crucial role in his paintings: sometimes standing alone, sometimes surrounding accompanying images. "They always kind of seemed like they were images of adulthood,"? says Kramer, "What life was going to be like soon. What I really wanted..."?
Kramer's work has been the subject of national and international solo exhibitions including Galerie Laurent Godin in Paris, France; Aeroplastics Contemporary in Brussels, Belgium; Pierogi in Brooklyn, NY; Tom Jankar Gallery in Los Angeles, CA; Pollard + Mulherin Gallery in New York, NY; and Heiner Contemporary in Washington DC. He is the recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts Grant Fellowship and The Pollock-Krasner Foundation Fellowship.

British born Katharine Dufault is a New York Times-reviewed artist, curator and visual arts consultant. She has advised non-profit gallery boards, sat on visual arts panels and served as juror for several awards. Dufault graduated with honors from Columbia University, with a degree in painting and literature after studying visual arts, graphic design and photography at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, England.
"I am continually interested in landscape. What I observe affects how I feel, and vice versa. I work from memories of recent woodsy walks, or journeys north in the car. Visible from my current studio, is a wild estural marshland, whose seasonal shifts in colors and light also inform my work. Areas of thin paint poured or applied like a wash onto flat, un-stretched canvas, contrast with thicker paint applied with a brush or palette knife. Through abstraction and play, the rhythm varies between swift calligraphic strokes and slow considered marks as I attempt to create landscapes which are both familiar and unknown. I want the work to attract the viewer with beauty and simultaneously prompt curiosity."

William Scharf is a painter whose subject is color. Scharf, a late-generation Abstract Expressionist and who apprenticed in the studio of Mark Rothko, applies paint in translucent layers to achieve depth and luminosity. He creates groups of paintings around the theme of a single color, working in a variety of scales and using shapes both geometric and biomorphic. Series have been dedicated to blue, silver, and gold, but black and white appear with the most frequency. As he explains: "Very young children discover how dark marks on white paper or white chalk on black become adventures; explorations of a kind that could haunt and obsess the entire life of a painter."

Alexander Rutsch's work, as seen through his mastery of various art forms - sculpture, painting, print-making, and drawing - has been described as "vibrating showers of lines, bold geometries, wounded anatomically rambling scrap-wood skeletons, enigmatic totem figures, and congregations of fetishized, domesticated, and recycled rubbish heaps [that] conspire to a fantasy of Expressionism, Cubism, Dada, Fauvism, Cobra, and Primitivism." Pelham Art Center is proud to sponsor a biennial competition and award to honor the memory and artistic achievement of Alexander Rutsch. A new Rutsch award recipient will be announced March 2021.

Kate Fauvell

Kate Fauvell is a visual artist from New York City. She is a visual story teller. She archives time through photographing all around her and uses those photos to create large scale photo based collage paintings.
Her work explores all that makes us human.
Fauvell is a 2018 recipient of a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. She holds a BFA from SUNY Binghamton and an MFA from The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. In 2019, Kate has a solo exhibition at Binghamton University. Most recently she has been part of exhibitions at Google, Silvermine Galleries, Tabla Rasa in Brooklyn as well as at BRIC Arts. In 2016, she had her first solo exhibition at Rush Gallery. She has also exhibited at Ground Floor Gallery; BRIC Art House; A.I.R. Gallery; Littlefield and LIU's Selena Gallery, all Brooklyn; Rush Arts Gallery, NY; and Washington Project for the Arts to name a few.

"As a young boy growing up in Snow Hill, I felt an attraction to the awesomeness of the farmlands, the natural lines of farm buildings and the rich stories of my ancestors who lived in this historic area. 40 plus years later, art and those impressions still fuel my creative process.
I see myself as a "composer" when I construct my large shaped and sculpted abstract paintings. As I'm creating, I feel an ancestry spirit pulling me far back to an ancient African trail. I hear their chant and it motivates me to extend my creative reach and change the boundaries thru my love of shapes."

Maria de Los Angeles is a New York City based artist, raised in California, Mexican born, whose imagery focuses on issues of migration, displacement, identity and otherness, working primarily in drawing, painting, installation, performance, fashion, and sculpture.
De Los Angeles received her MFA in painting and printmaking from Yale University School of Art (2015), a BFA in painting from Pratt institute (2013), and an associate's degree in painting from Santa Rosa Junior College in Northern California.
Maria has been recognize for the work community oriented projects such as the creation of an arts programs for youth, receiving the Community Action Partnership's award, and the Blair Dickinson Memorial Prize awarded by Yale University. She is a visiting Professor at Pratt Institute and was an artist in residency at El Museo del Barrio (2017) and at Mana Contemporary (2015-2017).
