"The Hard to Get Kind"
$440Inspiration: "Women of Strength Collection:
Catching sight of a woman in a gown walking away can leave you overcome by her presence. What you can learn about her in the way she carries the dress about her, the way she stands, how she folds her hands just so; you could create an entire life for this woman. She is complete in that single glimpse, if you are paying attention. The women in the series, Women of Strength, are not me nor are they women that I know and yet they are me and they are every woman that I know. The works are unique and carry the life force of the women that inspire us, the ones who push us to be more, to dream bigger, and to aim higher. I hope that you find inspiration in her stance but more importantly that you embody those qualities that you admire in her because they are also in you."

"Winter Day"
$505Inspiration: This is a Bob Ross style artwork that reminds me of a frigid cold day, when nature and the world around us is so quiet. When I look at my painting, it also reminds me of the beauty in simplicity, which is a Life is Good Superpower. Winter can sometimes be harsh and cruel but if you look at how it simplifies our surroundings and our day, it can take on a whole new beautiful meaning. Finding the joy in the cold can be an amazing thing! The warmth of an old home, the bright beautiful sun, the cold snowflake landing on your skin. The simplicity of winter can teach us how life is truly good.

"Picchu Portal 2"
$65Inspiration: "Enter the Machu Picchu ruins, heading towards Huayna Picchu in Cusco, Peru. A rainbow glow around a destination, once far out of reach, now accessible to all with a deep breath and a soft gaze.
Climbed May 30th, 2019 during an Artist in Residence program sponsored by Radiant Yoga Boston. With their help and the support of my community I had the honor of realizing a personal dream to travel while incorporating art, movement, education, and healing.
I continue to make work from this transformative experience and wish to see people of all means have access to a wider world of possibilities."

"Birds of Different Feathers"
$200Inspiration: As a MS art teacher and lifelong optimist - I like to blur the distinction between "serious" and "whimsical" art. This fanciful gathering of birds celebrates color and differences. These birds believe that everyone should flock together and sing!!!

"Positive Aura"
$105Inspiration: On the aesthetic level, this painting is part of the surrealist tendency of contemporary art. The artist tries to convey a metaphysical message by representing through a symbolic chromatic scale the character's aura through purple and its effects in his surroundings. The artist tries in this context to lead a spiritual quest in his pictorial approach.
Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010, the landscape of life and meaning of optimism was forever changed for Haitians. But the Haitian people carry an undeniable resilience that's a deep part of their history and character.
Life is Good Playmakers, trained to spread the power of optimism to children who need it most, formed a Playmaker Program in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to help ensure high-quality childcare even under the most difficult of circumstances. Ten years later, Playmakers in Haiti are known as Gerye Jwa - which directly translated means Joy Warriors, and that's exactly what they are.
Regardless of what life throws at Haiti, Gerye Jwa always remembers the simple ways we can shift our mindset and refocus our energy. Every day they work with the children to find and nurture and spread that light.
A group of these Playmakers brought community members and artists together to create over 30 pieces of artwork to donate to the 7th Annual Art of Optimism Virtual Exhibition and Auction so together, we can continue our mission to help kids heal both in Haiti and in the US.

"Mindscape 4"
$355Inspiration: I often like to explore the idea of landscapes as they are boiled down to the essentials of horizon and sky. I like to abstract shapes and fields and play with textures and layers, so that the pieces can function as both abstractions and representations. The viewer can enter the piece on their own terms, making of it what they wish.

"Summer Rain"
$250Inspiration: This piece was inspired by one of my favorite childhood memories in the Midwest-summer rain. Our summers were oppressively hot and humid but every once in a while the skies would open and a summer storm would hit. I would laugh and scream and dance in the cold rain with my sisters while the steam from the hot asphalt rose in clouds around us.

"Grandmother Crow"
$250Inspiration: Grandmother Crow is a shape-shifter, meaning she can transform into different life-forms and entities, allowing her to appear or not as she chooses, or perhaps fly over obstacles another life-form might not be able to, or slip through cracks. She has come upon a wall, after a long journey, but she will not be put off from reaching her final destination. She can move through it, or over it. This piece is a tribute to all who have traveled great distances, who have met obstacles, and overcome them, not being deterred from their intentions as they move forward, move towards what will eventually be home.

"Father and Son"
$165Inspiration: I was trying to connect emotionally to the father and son bond as it related to families traveling across borders, immigrating here (or anywhere safe), what it must be like to be in survival mode, but at the same time trying to be a nurturing parent, how difficult that must be.
- Dimensions: 36" x 36"
- Medium: Oil on Canvas
This item may be shipped to any US destination at an added cost TBD.

"Grains of Sand"
$415Inspiration: This is another piece exploring the father and child connection, as it relates to families traveling across borders, immigrating here, or anywhere safe. In this one, the father walks slightly ahead of the child, and seems preoccupied, as if he's looking at something in his hands, grains of sand perhaps, from the desert- like terrain they are traversing. They are connected, likely by blood, certainly in their journey, and perhaps at the same time each traveling independently, each with their own thoughts accompanying their steps forward to somewhere unknown, but hopeful.

Sunshine is Central to Growth

"The Fishing Bird"
$165Inspiration: This was inspired by a 30 minute observation of a Great White Heron fishing in the Boston Harbor. I watched it catch three fish with patience, focus, and excellent execution. Hoping that the elegance of the bird shines through in this piece.

"Lovely Sunset"
$265Inspiration: I took a photo of a sunset at a local pond which silhouetted the leaves and shrubbery in front of me. Upon reviewing the photo, and noticing some of the branches hanging down lower than others, I got the idea to create a heart shape from the leaves. This is my interpretation of my heart hugging a sunset and the reminder that no matter what happens there is still beauty in each day to behold.

"Amwari"
$105Inspiration: This piece is inspired by the work that Gèrye Jwa/Life is Good Playmakers Ayiti is doing in the country. I see them as a superhero who carries the country and accompanies children from generation to generation towards a brighter future. As you can see, the shape on the superhero's back is Haiti that he pulls out of a darker, more deserted place to lead it, along with the kids, to a lighter and greener place. For me, this is what the work of Gèrye Jwa/Life is Good Playmakers Ayiti is accomplishing in Haiti.
