Judith Schaechter

Judith Schaechter has lived and worked in Philadelphia since graduating in 1983 with a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design Glass Program.

She has exhibited widely, including in New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia, The Hague and Vaxjo Sweden.

She is the recipient of many grants, including the Guggenheim Fellowship, two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships in Crafts , The Louis Comfort Tiffany Award, The Joan Mitchell Award, two Pennsylvania Council on the Arts awards, The Pew Fellowship in the Arts and a Leeway Foundation grant.

Her work is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Hermitage in Russia, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Corning Museum of Glass, The Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution and numerous other public and private collections.

Judith's work was included in the 2002 Whitney Biennial, a collateral exhibition of the Venice Biennale in 2012 and she is a 2008 USA Artists Rockefeller Fellow. In 2013 Judith was inducted to the American Craft Council College of Fellows.

Lauren Mabry

I make ceramic sculptures, vessels, and dimensional glaze paintings. My work seeks to both highlight and exploit the intrinsic qualities and process-oriented nature of ceramics. Through calculated experimentation driven by a fascination with color and visual movement, the objects I make challenge viewers to contemplate the perceived physical state of matter. These ever-dynamic compositions feature rich, vibrant glazes that remain in constant fluctuation between flowing liquids and solid structures. Sometimes the surfaces look weathered and aged, but at the same time colorfully lush and wet. The results are expressive, bold, and often dichotomous: haphazard yet highly calculated.

Vetro Vero Glass

Michael Schunke is a firm believer in the value of practice and skill in glassmaking, concepts that are exemplified in his remarkable execution of hand-blown glass goblets. The refined nature of Schunke's signature contemporary stemware is a result of his design aesthetic combined with his unwavering dedication to technical practice.

Josie Gluck is an American designer and glassmaker. Her focus on the meaning of matter at the intersection of art, craft and design serves as a departure point for her interest in cultivating lasting relationships between objects and humanity.

Schunke and Gluck merged practices in 2011 and formed Vetro Vero to preserve traditional techniques and express creative innovation through obsessive excellence in design and craftsmanship. Together, Schunke and Gluck teach glassmaking workshops around the world and have been recognized as Guest Artists by the Glass Art Society and the Corning Museum of Glass.

Gravers Lane Gallery

Gravers Lane Gallery was founded in 2010 and is one division of The Goldenberg Group, which is comprised of three entities: Goldenberg Development, People Helping People Foundation, and Goldenberg Enterprises.

T.G.G. creates transformative change through active involvement in communities and meaningful partnerships. In 2012 long-time Philadelphia gallerist Bruce Hoffman joined the team as Director of Gravers Lane Gallery. Located in the historic Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Gravers Lane Gallery represents a diverse stable of regional, national and international artists spanning many generations, from emerging to lifetime award recipients. Engaging the surrounding community by creating a comfortable welcoming environment is very important in our exhibition practices.

Carol Klein

The piece entitled "Turbulence" was created in 2018. Using porcelain slip and glass fiber textile its surfaces are both fractured, twisted and deformed by enormous heat - a predictive commentary on our times.

As an associate at The Clay Studio, my early work in mold making and casting evolved from small, functional, translucent porcelain pieces to intricate, larger pieces. This work while functional, or not, has a novel composition. Using porcelain slip and glass fiber textile to create large vessels and panels, I am modeling unusual fractured and sculptural surfaces in my studio at 319 N 11th St, Philadelphia. My process is intuitive and I strive to discover new expression for these molten media.
