Weaving has been an ongoing traditional folk art in northern New Mexico for hundreds of years. These hand woven mats from the Severo Jaramillo Weaving Shop are well known among those in the weaving world, a long and esteemed art of a certain portion of Mexican population that settled in this area of New Mexico and began their time honored tradition on unique hand weaving/looms. They are one of a kind.
This set of 4 Christmas Place mats is richly colored in forest green with designs in colors of red, white and eucalyptus with a white border. These hand woven tapestry wool products use natural dyes, custom-dyed yarns, handspun yarns, and the traditional Chimayo and Rio Grande weaving styles.
Grandpa Severo's weaving shop was featured in National Geographic.
