Image Description: Protesters break through barriers and police lines and storm the Capitol in Washington, D.C. after listening to a speech by President Trump on January 6, 2021. A large mob who convened in Washington, D.C. for a "Save America" or "Stop the Steal" rally was incited by President Trump and stormed the United States Capitol building, fighting with police, and damaging offices and rooms as they made their way through the building. This Image was on the cover of the NY Times Magazine, and is in the process of being entered into The Smithsonian's permanent collection.


Photographer's Bio: Ashley Gilbertson is an Australian photographer and writer living in New York City recognized for his critical eye and unique approach to social issues. Gilbertson is a member of VII Photo, a frequent contributor to major media outlets and a collaborator with the United Nations.
