Photographer's Bio:

Todd Heisler has been a staff photographer for The New York Times since 2006. Before that he was a staff photographer for the now defunct Rocky Mountain News and various weeklies around Chicago.


In 2010, he was part of the team that won the National News and Documentary Emmy for One in 8 Million, a web series for the New York Times chronicling the lives of everyday New Yorkers.


In 2006, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography for Final Salute, a project about the return of fallen US Marines killed in Iraq. In 2003 he was a member of the team at the Rocky Mountain News that won the Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography and was a finalist for Feature Photography in 2010 for his work on Alzheimers in Colombia.


Heisler is also a frequent contributor to Lens, New York Times' photo blog.
