Pilfered from ride in Air Force One: One of Lily Eskelsen-Garcia's first official acts as president was an invitation from President Barack Obama to a union rally in Wisconsin. Union presidents were offered a "ride home" on Air Force One. Lily graciously accepted. She walked off the plane with a book of matches, pack of candy kisses and a pad of paper - all with White House seal. She was trying for a classroom set, but the Secret Service suggested this was enough.
By lighting up a candle and munching on some delicious chocolate, you too can conjure up the Airforce one experience during the Obama administration!

In 1966, America's black and white educators took an unprecedented step to preserve the unity of the educators through a historic merger of the NEA and American Teachers Association (ATA) during the civil rights movement.
