Ever since I was a little girl, I had a strong sense of love and compassion for animals and in particular, for horses. I would collect horse figurines, read Pony Pals books and my favorite movie was, Black Beauty. I always wanted to ride horses and hoped to one day, own a horse of my own. I was mostly influenced by my mother, who rode horses and owned a horse, named, Chip. She would always tell me how horses are the most beautiful, kind and understanding animals and growing up hearing that really stuck with me. When you look into a horses eyes, they're almost human-like. It's as if they want to talk to you and tell you a story. I feel the connection between a horse and human is like no other. Every horse has their own personality and me, along with many others, feel a sense of calmness and wholesomeness being around them.
A few years ago, I went to an event at Rising Starr Horse Rescue and fell in love with their cause to save, rehab, retrain, and rehome abandoned, neglected, or abused horses. Every horse has a story of their own and these beautiful horses need our help. Rising Starr gives these horses a second chance at life and allows people to experience the love, patience, and compassion horses have for humans.
