David Doubilet

Under the Sea (North Mariana Islands, 2014)

Photographer David Doubilet is often called the "Audubon of the sea." His beautifully crafted photographs combine art and technology to illuminate the oceans and their inhabitants in arresting ways. In this lovely, black-and-white image, he captures a school of spotted eagle rays in the northern Mariana Islands. The underwater image demonstrates the grace and rhythm of the rays in a stunning work of art. Doubilet has spent more than 26,000 hours in the sea. With 75 features, he is one of National Geographic's most published photographers. To see more of David Doubilet's work, visit www.underseaimages.com or @daviddoubilet.
