As part of Jenny's training for Ironman Florida, and because she loves doing challenging endurance events, she will be completing the Mount Evans Ascent Round-Trip Road Race on June 27. The race takes place on America's highest road and climbs about 4,000 feet to the summit of Mount Evans, an iconic Colorado 14'er (14,264 feet). The Mount Evans Ascent Round-Trip Race will be Jenny's first ultramarathon distance, about 29 miles total and she would like your support to complete the same distance in the month of June.

Share Jenny's passion for getting active, getting involved, and conquering big goals 1 Mile at a Time.

During the 1 Mile at a Time Challenge, we are continuing to raise money for NATCA Charitable Foundation with portions of the proceeds to benefit the Dare2Tri organization.  Learn more about the epic Mount Evans Ascent Race: Mount Evans Ascent Race

My name is Jenny Benjamin. I am a passionate athlete, loving mother, military spouse and an air traffic controller working at Denver Centennial Airport (APA). I am sharing my life and journey to finish Ironman Florida in order to raise money for NATCA Charitable Foundation with portions of the proceeds to benefit the Dare2tri Organization. I am not a professional athlete, but I put in hundreds of miles of swimming, biking and running, all while balancing work and family. I am just an everyday person that is making it work, one day at a time. Becoming a successful athlete doesn't happen overnight, and I plan to put in more than 5,000 miles before race day.  I would love your support and comradery over the next few months.

I am a rockstar and so are you!

5,000 miles of training in preparation for my third Ironman competition

Training regimen includes swimming, biking and running 6 days a week, averaging 10-15 hours/week

Peak performance weeks consist of 5-hour bike rides, 3-hour runs,
90-minute swims and all the workouts in between

Nutrition and Recovery are priorities to ensure successful workouts

The most important part? Time management, which means balancing family, work, NATCA and workouts

Why is this race different?

As I train and prepare for my third Ironman, I decided to share my journey to inspire, motivate and raise funds for my favorite charity. The NATCA Charitable Foundation makes a difference in the lives of many by supporting and funding small and unique charities across the country such as Dare2tri Organization. I will share my love of triathlon by sharing the day-to-day journey of what it takes to cross the finish line at an Ironman triathlon. Support the NATCA Charitable Foundation by making a donation as I build toward race day.

In the course of training, I will be completing two half Ironman competitions (70.3 Miles)

Race day in Panama City Beach is like no other you've experienced before. Surrounded by the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico, IRONMAN Florida is the perfect fusion of speed, history, and leisure.

Course Details and Maps

2.4 Mile Swim

Swim Course

IRONMAN Florida will feature a start based on self-seeding. Athletes will self-seed into swim start corrals based upon their estimated swim finish time. Additionally, there are intermediate cutoff times in place. Each athlete will be allotted 1 hour 10 minutes to complete the first loop and 2 hours 20 minutes to complete the entire course. Although you may be permitted to continue in the event, if you exceed these time limits you will be considered a DNF at the end of the day. Self-seeding will be based on your individual abilities according to your expected finish time. Swimming with likeability athletes will benefit you so you will not be overtaken by stronger swimmers.

Athletes' official race time will start at the water's edge when they enter the water. All athletes will have the traditional 17 hours to complete the entire event (subject to intermediate cutoff times throughout the event).

112 Mile Bike Ride

Bike Course

The one-loop course is flat and fast with some rolling hills to contend with. The highest point on the course is 161 feet above sea level as you cross over the intercoastal waterway. As the day progresses light winds will challenge you on your return to transition. Expect a fast bike split and be prepared to stay in your aero bars.

26.2 Mile Run

Run Course

This is one of the flattest run courses on the IRONMAN circuit. The two-loop course is filled with breathtaking views of the emerald coast waters along the shoreline. The sun sets early this time of year, so you may want to toss a long-sleeve shirt into your special needs bag.

My 2021 Motto!!

Turn your face towards the sun - Let the shadows fall behind you - Don't look back, just carry on - And the shadows will never find you
